Cortana quit working after update

After the latest update a couple of weeks ago, I noticed I had to re-engage Hey Cortana, as it had been turned off. After set up, I got the message that my sound card (ASUS Xonar) might not recognize be compatible. Sure enough, while it recognizes "Hey Cortana" it just spins its wheels when I try to ask it an actual question. Before the update, it worked flawlessly. Almost frighteningly so. It's always something.

And now it mysteriously works like a champ. Craziness I tell ya'.
