I've had my phone since Friday the 6th. Have not had this issue until today the 13th. Data just completely stopped put of the blue. I was really bummed but then tried something. I removed my sim while phone was one. Powered off. Powered on with no sim. Powered down again the reinserted the sim. Powered up and I was back in business. Hope this patch fixes up these issues.

I got a tip that if you put your phone in airplane mode and take it out it fixes the data bug temporarily

Why would you buy it off contract for $449 if the ETF is only $335?

You get the phone and basically a free month of service ($100 credit) on contract ... then pay off the ETF for $315 ($325 - $10 prorate) and go month to month ?

Just say'n.. its what I'm about to do :)

I guess I'll go with Amazon since they have it for $49 anyone know of a place that has it for less ?

U need to read the amazon fine print closely. I brought it for $20 on upgrade on my "spare line" that I never used. Amazon requires the actual phone on that line being upgraded for 181 days or they charge u an a extra $250 penalty. This is in addition to your normal etc.

So if you want to swap devices and switch to your primary line (that's not eligible for upgrade). Than buying full price for $450 makes more sense.

I installed the patch this morning and held my breath...it worked! I'm back in the matrix! Powered down and rebooted the the phone and it still worked!

"Everyone gets knocked down, but the judge of a man's character is how he gets up" - Vine Lombardi

"In the midst of adversity; the flower that bossums is the most beautiful of all" - Confucious

Nokia stepped up and took ownership of this issue; they just earned a long-term customer in me...thanks guys!

I have a friend who has the 900, the phone is now rendered useless after the software update. Acessing data is completely out of the question, I am puzzled as why this happened. Wasn't the update supposed to fix the problem, that she never had in the first place?

...strange indeed. That's exactly what happened to me on my iPhone 3GS and iPad2 when I updated to the 5.0 iOS; I was devasted because, even though I backed up prior to doing it, it wiped everything clean and Apple encrypt's thier files, so I couldn't restore them. Sorry to hear your friend struggled with this update; it was seamless, error-free and fast for me.

Does anyone know when this $100 credit will be applied?

I just received my first AT&T bill (switched from Verizon for the Lumia 900, activated April 6th). The bill did not have this $100 credit applied, I know we may not get it right away, but they never said when. I also find it odd that the bill states it is due by May 1st, and it is for the April service period "April 08 thru May 07" in addition to the prorated 2 days of service April 6 and 7... On every other service bill I pay (utilities, internet, Verizon) I am billed for the service I USED not for the FUTURE service. Or is this just a first bill thing and then I have a month extra until my second bill?

a friend of mine, ATT rep, said it will be automatic. i'd probably still stop by an ATT store to make sure.

AT&T not honoring $100 credit

So just came back from my local AT&T store, where I was about to buy a new Lumia 900...until the salespeople at the store told me "we are no longer honoring the $100 rebate because all of the phones in our store have been updated to the new software and no longer have the data issue." When I explained to them that the statement Nokia put out said that it would apply to ALL phones bought before April 21, they literally said "regardless of what it says on the Internet we are no longer honoring that credit." They said that I would have to take it up with Nokia and MAYBE they would honor it. I then said "But it's a credit that goes directly on my AT&T bill!" they shook their heads and told me I was flat out wrong.

Couldn't believe it. Needless to say, didn't get the phone -- would not give them the satisfaction -- and walked out fuming, one less customer for Nokia.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? Or are the people at my AT&T store in Sterling, Va. just idiots?

ATT stores seem to be operating like electronics stores did in the late 90s. Just tell the customer whatever, whether it's true or not.

I went into two ATT stores today trying to swap my phone for an updated one, and was told:
-"the update isn't out yet" (my phone is updated)
-"we are out of stock and we have no idea when the white version is coming out"

Thing is, their body language was just screaming 'lies'. I know there is a lot of top-down pressure on this phone,'s sales, but they act like we don't have the internet!

My AT&T store here in Florida seemed to have their facts straight on all of this.

I would try calling AT&T directly.

Here's a useful link for getting through to a human ASAP:

AT&T Wireless Customer Phone Number | Shortest Wait | Best Support | GetHuman.com

You can also call Nokia directly about it, since they are the ones footing the bill:

Nokia Care professionals can be reached at 1-888-665-4228.
Phone center hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM ? 9:0o PM EST and Saturday 10:00 AM ? 7:00 PM EST.

I would trust Nokia on this 100%. If you buy a Lumia 900 before April 21st, Nokia will take care of $99 of your first bill. Some AT&T store employees may be ignorant about this, but it's not up to them, this is all being handled at a much higher level, not controlled by the stores at all, they have no say in the matter.

That's unfortunate.

I guess maybe I'm lucky. Both the stores I've been to here in south Florida were pretty knowledgable. I already knew what the deal was, but I stopped by just to "quiz" them for the **** of it. The guy I spoke to knew about the update and the refund, he knew the update would be available online and that I would need to use the computer to perform it (not an OTA update). He also knew that the refund was automatic and should be applied to the first bill and that alternately I had the option of exchanging my phone for an updated one.

They passed with flying colors. Guy had a Lumia 900 on him as well.

I think anyone who encounters AT&T employees in their store who are grossly misinformed or who steer them away from the Lumia 900, they should be contacting AT&T corporate, Nokia and Microsoft to let them know who the employees are, what store location, etc.

That is the only way things are going to get better.

I posted an email I got from Nokia in another thread about the rebate that told me unless I'm experiencing data loss now or on a new handset then I would not be getting a rebate. If I could figure out how to copy and paste an email on this phone I would put it here. I never had a data loss problem and I'm assuming i won't be getting the $100 according to Nokia.

are you telling me that you cant lie for a 100 bucks and say 'that you are experiencing problems'. there is no way for nokia to come to everyone's home and check who is getting the problem and who isn't. they made it clear the deal is on till the 21st(by which time they assume everyone who is getting the problem would have updated or exchanged their phones). Besides, some of us are buying the phone cause of the extra incentive anyways(100 bucks in rebate)

I'm not saying I can't lie but they don't say what qualifies you for the $100 rebate. I'm not sure if you have to have exchanged your phone for a new one or just called the 800 number and complained...let me show the email I got. This makes it seem a little more complicated than people on here are saying.

here's the email

Hi Nicholas,

Thank you for emailing the Nokia USA Careline.

In response to your concern, we understand that you would like to know on how to get the $100 credit offer. Please be reminded that the $100 credit offer (AT&T bill) is only applicable to the owners of the Nokia Lumia 900 devices with issues on connecting to the internet using the data connection from AT&T.

If you are having issues with connecting to the internet using the data connection from AT&T, you will have two options:

1. Update the latest software of the Nokia Lumia 900 device via Zune on or around April 16, 2012.
2. Swap your current Lumia 900 device for an updated Lumia 900 phone.

As a gesture of good will, every individual who has already purchased a Nokia Lumia 900 or who will purchase one from April 11 up to April 22 directly from AT&T Store, with the same data connection issue, will receive a $100 credit to their AT&T bill.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. To ensure proper handling of your case, kindly continue using the current subject line.

You may also call Nokia Careline at 1-888-665-4228 from Mondays to Fridays at 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. EST and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. EST for immediate assistance.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Kind regards,

I would say it's starting to be a little misleading. I found this: Lumia 900 update - Nokia - USA today and I'm not really seeing where the stipulations are, other than the obvious. I wonder if they're tracking the calls that came into AT&T for the data issue? In other words, you called AT&T about the "no data" issue, it was recorded into their system and that's how they're basing who does and does not get the credit?
