I'm sure that this question may have been raised previously, in which case I apologise - I've searched but to no avail.

Nokia Lumia 925 - 8.0.10328.78

According to Sending a text or chatting | Windows Phone How-to it is possible to delete individual text messages or threads:

To delete a message or thread

1.In the App list, tap Messaging .

2.Under Threads, do one of the following:
?Tap to the left of one or more messages or threads to select each one, then tap Delete .
?Tap and hold the message or thread you want to delete, then tap Delete.

3.Tap Delete to confirm.

However, while the various threads have check boxes if I tap to the left so that I can delete individual threads, there are no check boxes for individual text messages within threads. Is this right? Am I simply not able to delete one or more messages (as suggested by Microsoft) but only entire threads? Or, is something wrong in which case what's the solution?

Thanks.

I believe you are right, you can go to the thread as if reading than tap the 3 dots lower right corner and delete thread.
