Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

After you install a preview update, you may void any warranty from your MO and OEM. In the unlikely event you run into an issue after you apply the prerelease update, you can visit the preview program?s support forum.

Why MAY? cause once you installed it, you void your warranty, after you uninstall it AND wait until it publicly rolled out, you dont void your warranty now.

Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

Probably asked already, but I'll ask anyway: how does it work with the Lumia updates and the Developer Preview Program again? If I enroll in the DPP, do I still keep my Lumia updates like Glance and stuff? Or will my phone run vanilla Windows Phone?

you will still have your glance screen that is a part of nokia black firmware update , windows phone 8.1 will not remove your firmware version. So your glance screen , apps , double tap to unlock will fork good (may be excellent in windows phone 8.1 :D )

Indeed and you also get access to any retail/carrier updates that are pushed as well including any OEM specific updates since your phone pulls from both dev and retail/carrier channels when enrolled in the program. :)

Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

I got into the Developer Preview Program.
Downloaded the app and enabled it. After that glance updated to work with windows 8.1 (don't know if the registration caused the update or if I missed out on it).
I also checked if there are any new updates for WP and there is one.
Didn't want to download it though :x

Btw, the 8.1 release got pushed back to April 14th supposedly (that's the new date if all goes according to plan).

IMPORTANT - Do not be misled by this thread. Having reached out to Nokia about this, if you are using any Lumia device THE PREVIEW WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY in

This is a false statement. I have replaced my 928 while it was running GDR3 Preview.

Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

first off thanks for the info on how to do the Developer Preview can't wait to try 8.1

a question for people who've been doing the previous dev builds, how stable have these been? has your phone been prone to crash or has it been as though it was the final build software on the phone? just wondering before 8.1 whether it could be a shaky experience for the few months until the final build or not.

Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

It was the exact same build as what was released to manufacturers. As was said in the first post.

Also important to remember, the 14th is a moving target. It will be the 14th IF they finish getting things ready by the 8th. This is why I cautioned folks against claiming RTM had already been reached.

It shouldn't be. Microsoft is very careful about what they put into the hands of users, especially when they make it possible for anyone to grab it and put it on their mobile device. That's why the release is still a moving target, but with a hopeful ready to release to devs date of 4/14.

As I stated in the first post in this thread, the build you get on preview is the same build that manufacturers get.

Re: Developer Preview Program - What Exactly Is It?

thanks Morpheus Phreak and hopmedic for the feedback. roll on the week after next. hopefully there's some work around to get Cortana working outside of the US maybe through some region and or language changing, although I guess it will be unlikely.

The emulator seems to allow access if you change the region. The problem is that while this would be fun for testing, changing the region and using it that way could cause Cortana to start building up some inaccurate information...which you'd have to basically wipe out and start clean again on, if it can even be done.
