Do I need the Microsoft Display Dock to use Continuum?

Can I just use a USB-C to HDMI adapter to plug it into the monitor? If I can just use a $10 adapter I'd rather go that route then the $100 display dock (which isn't in stock anyway).

It can also be done wirelessly through Miracast if you have a monitor/tv with that capability.

i know this is late, but if you own a Xbox One and are a part of the Preview program, you can get the Wireless Display (preview) app. This will use Continuum just as it would if you were using the dock.
