Do I need to roll back my 1020 from DP to 8.0?

I'm assuming that AT&T will update 1020s in the next couple of weeks to 8.1.

Will my phone running the Developer preview will get the upgrade or will I have to roll back to 8.0 to get the 8.1 upgrade?

Also, what about the firmware upgrade from Black to Cyan?

No you will get the update without having to roll back the phone..

Thanks, and mercifully I don't need/have bitlocker encryption.

There may be a fix by the time Cyan is ready for our 1020s, and who knows when Cyan for 1020s will be ready, so I am going to hang onto 8.1 until Cyan is ready, then roll back to 8.0 if no Developer Preview fix has been made, then download cyan, then hard reset.

Thanks for the article I had read it before... Still my point stands.. People are panicking unnecessarily! MS halted the updates because they wanted to be sure and I for one think they were right to do that.. I would rather have 5 people screaming at me than 10..
Honestly the only people that can complain are those with a (without 8.1) 1520/930/Icon and.... there was one more lol can't remember which one but a 600 series.. Oh and those that waited patiently for 8.1 or Cyan.. Cyan just gives us 8.1 with tweaks lol

As long as Cyan isn't listed as Available on the Cyan Update page, I am not going to roll back to 8.0. Who knows how long it takes anyways before the 1020 will get the update. Plus my carrier is rather slow with updates anyways, for example all German 925 variants got their Cyan already. All but one exception: The variant of my carrier.
So I think it is way too early to start downgrading or anything.

Sure if you're a 1520 owner on AT&T and have some time to kill, you may want to do it, but 1020, 520, etc. should wait until (1) Microsoft announce something or (2) Your phone is actually supposed to get the update.

The rollback is fine with a backup, it's just time consuming.

Hey guys, I actually had some time to waste and so I did with my At&t Lumia 1520. I rolled back to 8.0 and then updated to the official 8.1. The first thing I have noticed that the ringtones/sounds customization has changed and apply on installed apps only after the app has been used once and pushed a notification, such as Whatsapp. I will keep digging to see if other features were changed. Besides that it runs smoother and feels more stable than the preview, especially with the Cyan update.

If I understand correctly, another reason to wait until Cyan is available for your carrier and device (besides a potentially imminent patch for the DP) is that on 8.0 you won't be able to use your 8.1 backup until you're back on 8.1. Even if you know you want to go back to 8.0 (maybe you want a fresh install for some reason or don't want to wait any longer than necessary for Cyan), wait until 8.1/Cyan are available for your phone/carrier.
