Macbooks stand out because of the giant logos on them, so they may register more in your mind more than a dozen black Windows laptops you also saw. On a recent flight I got up to stretch my legs and noticed several MacBooks in use as I walked down the aisle towards the back of the plane. Walking back up the aisle I noticed that many of those Macs were running Windows programs (Office).
It's very interesting that the Win8/Metro disaster and the huge popularity of iPhones and iPads hasn't resulted in a boost for OSX. That seems like a natural upward evolution of their mobile userbase (iPhone leads to iPads then to MacBooks). Yet the OSX marketshare remains in the single digits.
