Do you have iPhone envy ?

I understand the OS can manage apps, but if I am done with a game or an app, what does it hurt to have the option to close the app?

It doesn't hurt of course. But it's unnecessary. Perhaps it would be better if Apple (and Microsoft) didn't provide this facility. As it was your only complaint about the iOS, it seems rather strong to say the iPads were 'driving you nuts' - that would indicate anger issues which you obviously don't have.

I wasn't impressed with the iPhone compared to my Treo I had when it came out. Bigger screen, easy finger touch, otherwise functionality wise it wasn't as good. Honestly, not many smart phones have the same functionality my old Treo's had, the only thing they do better is web browsing and media. Sounds, options, customizations, none of it is as good as the old treos and treo w's

Only when I'm not able to find a fashionable case or when they send me app invites for something I'm interested in. Other than that, no. I love how iPhone gives you a consistent daily experience topped with a complete ecosystem, but I need something more than just an app launcher. Windows phone gets me in and out of my phone without clearing five areas of notifications and social media scrolling to find the people I want to see updates on. I'm not saying windows phone is perfect, but if I had to pick an ecosystem, it'd be windows.

Not a bit of it. I used to have a 3GS which didn't meet my needs, so I ended up carrying two phones. Add to that a too small screen, iTunes, terrible keyboard and it's no mystery that I took a punt on an HD7.

Beyond the device is how people carry them: wrapped in stupid faux diamant? covers, covers with integrated battery packs or just broken.

You don't have to curate a Lumia because its tough enough to take normal treatment and you don't have to hide it because its nice in itself.

Envy? No. I just got a 1520 last year when they came out. If I wanted an Iphone I would have got one. Nuff said.

I think its certain features of Apple that I, and many other, envy.

The app library (who wouldn't want it, even if many are cr-apps), and updates independent of carriers. Other than that, the form factor and iOS just doesn't do it for me. Then again, WP stopped doing it for me too, so what the heck do I know. :p

Sometimes I do miss my iPhone just because notifications sucks on Windows Phone (although things might change with 8.1) but then again, I am really enjoying the attention I get from my Lumia 920.

One time I was at the gym, there was this one guy who was on a leg press machine and every time he gets down he stares at my phone. It's hilarious because he keeps on looking at it like it was from the year 3000.

Then some of my office mates keeps on asking me what phone is that and I tell them it's a Windows Phone and tell me how nice it looks. My uncle is getting himself a 520 too and asked me about Windows Phone. It's really nice to see Windows Phone gathering SO MUCH interest. It surely does stand out among the Galaxies and iDevices.

Also, I have absolutely no worries about music syncing since the Windows Phone App for Desktop actually syncs my play counts to my iTunes! Pretty neat. I'm not leaving iTunes until Microsoft gives Xbox Music or other third party music players a major feature shower esp. Last FM support.

How do you get play counts to sync??????!!!! Please tell me exactly how you did this as it is the only reason I am keeping iTunes around!

I get that the phone provides a mechanism to regulate the applications that are running, and closes them as it requires more resources. However, the ability to close applications isn't unnecessary, there are circumstances where applications aren't behaving properly and you would like to or would need to close the application. If you are in an application in Windows Phone, you close it by pressing the back button. That is fewer steps than how an iPhone handles the same task.

On purely anecdotal evidence, there are plenty of iOS users who do not know how this multitasking works in iPhone, and having to describe the process of closing apps can be difficult for some users to understand, especially since the multitasking interface has changed dramatically from iOS 6.x to iOS 7.x. iPhone, Android and Windows Phone are more the same than they are different, but that is one particular quirk of the iOS interface that I find to be counter intuitive, and yes, it irritates me.

"Drive me nuts" is a common idiom. Are you unfamiliar with the phrase, or are you simply being pedantic?

- Updates independent of carrier
- App Library + App launching exclusively on iWorld before the rest of us even dream of gettin' them apps
- Great functions that are just being developed by WP like Siri and other stuff... anyways

I much prefer WP :) ... period. Live tiles are AMAZING.

I used to be envious when I had the Nokia E73 on tmo; then I switched to the C7 and the envy gap closed quite a bit because finally it was a proper music player as well. When I got the Lumia 810 I was a bit mainly because of the music duplication issue, but I guess I got the hang of it and it happens quite rarely now. Today, I have no envy at all and, in fact, I traded my only iPod for a gift card to get the Surface Pro. I use iTunes basically because I am used to how it works, but once I download music, I drag-and-drop to get it to the phone. I even transfered files via blootooth, and it has performed well, as expected.

Do you have iPhone envy?

NO!

Realistically, I would expect some iPhone owners to have WindowsPhone envy (unless they are app crazy). My brother immediately left his iPhone for a Lumia 920 (larger screen, refreshing OS design, added functionality). Before the latest version of iOS, Microsoft failed to really communicate all of the unique features of WP vs iOS to the general public.

Every iPhone user whom I've shown WindowsPhone to, has always been impressed by WP (and larger screen size).

My biggest gripe with is that app developers slack off when it comes to making apps for WP. All the most popular apps haven't been updated in sometimes months or years.

I suspect that many developers are waiting for waiting for WP8.1 until they update their apps.
