Double tap to wake on unsupported devices through Glance screen?

Since the L620/L720 supposedly don't have the screen technologies to support double tap to wake, is it technically possible to have double tap to wake on those devices while the Glance screen is on since the whole screen is powered on anyway?

I just thought about it because I have my L720 on my desk charging and plugged in my speakers to listen to music. I want to change the track but I don't want to need to press the power/lock button. The Glance screen is always on when charging so it would be ideal to wake the phone by double tapping to access the lock screen/music controls.

Might never happen but it's just an idea.

While it is technically feasible, it would absolutely destroy battery life. So Nokia considered it is not worth the cost.
