Error installing update 8773

Well I couldn't wait till tonight so I attempted the update from work. As I feared the update still fails and I get the same error code.

As of yet, no. Its nearing August though and we were told between June and July so I'm patient.

You know what's disappointing? I got the update by just plugging it in and it didn't stop half way through or anything, it finished. What's upsetting is that it was unsuccessful and gave me the error again.

Sorry to hear. I started a post on the T-mobile forums about this issue, as was given these instructions for forcing the update. Don't know yet if I'm going to try it or not. The instructions don't seem overly difficult.

I chatted with @winphonesupport via their chat help and they are going to open a case to further investigate this whole issue.

Not sure which apps your referring to. I do have about 5 or 6 Nokia Apps installed.

Camera Extras, Playto, and Contacts Transfer. It doesn't matter though. I had them installed, but uninstalled them to see if I could update then and that didn't work.

Has anybody tried restoring from a backup and updating afterwards?

Yeah, I did. Didn't work for me, and now that I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Zune I no longer have that backup to try again.

So, in the end, they want me to contact Nokia/my contracter and get my phone replaced. I am just waiting for WP8.

Well finally heard from Microsoft support, here is what I got:
"From the information provided I see you are receiving error code 80070017 when trying to update your Windows phone. This error indicates an issue with your computer contacting Microsoft update, this is necessary for updates to come through to your phone. There is additional information regarding this error on the Windows forum here. One thing I would try doing before any other troubleshootin would be try and run and install available Microsoft updates for your PC. Please do this without the phone connected to the PC."

I don't buy it. My PC has given me no issues, and I always keep it up to date. Not to mention that I've tried updating my phone now on three different PC's. Guess I'm stuck never getting TANGO.

I'm going to install the Windows RTM from Dreamspark because I know that's up to date and its looking pretty slick. If I have success, you'll be the first to know.
