Extremely slow to wake

My phone takes forever to wake up when pressing power, double tap or when a call comes in. There are times I turn it on and it's as if the brightness is lower than the lowest setting. I'm on the release preview and I've reset my phone already and that didn't help this issue.

This sort of happens to me when I leave my game running and the screen shuts off.
I have a difficult time waking the phone.

Are you leaving some intensive app running?

My Lumia 950 also does this. It's the most annoying bug I've so far encountered in Windows Mobile.

Quite often my phone screen remains black after a phone call, when I take the phone from my ear the screen won't wake up, making it impossible to end the call. It also takes forever to wake up and the screen remains dark.

I've tried soft resets, hard resets and throwing the goddam device across the room....nothing helps.

In desperation I've now downloaded the software recovery tool and reinstalled a fresh version of W10M.

Although I was only on the "safe" preview version of the insider program, I've made the decision to step away from it altogether. I'd rather be a couple of updates behind and have a useable phone.

Also (and this may not apply to your situation) my SD card kept showing an error every time I restarted my phone. Someone here mentioned that a faulty sd card can cause operating system issues.

It's been 24 hours and so far my phone seems to be behaving.

That's interesting. I reloaded and fresh start slow ring, jumped to fast ring and so far has been extremely stable. Dttw and dtts works well.

But yes, when I first got the phone, I found loads of issues until I recovery tool a fresh OS.

Hmmm, I've never an insufficient disk space warning before.

I'm quite fed up with W10M and the endless bugs.

Last night I done a clean install from the recovery tool. For now, that seems to have taken care of the black screen/wake issue, however now Cortana won't learn my voice, which is a big issue because I set voice reminders a lot.

I've tried leaving it so that it just responds when I say "hey Cortana" without the voice recognition, but the problem with that setting is that Cortana activates all the time. It's like every time it hears a background noise or someone else speaking it activates.

So basically I've swopped out one bug for another.

I'd give anything for an operating system that just works

The slow to wake happens to me too. At the first site of this, I simply restart and wait until it happens again. Usually every 3 days

But doesn't it annoy you that you have to restart you're device every few days because of a bug?

For me, it just feels like a lack of quality control. We put up with a lot of bugs on W10M devices and it's not good enough.

We wouldn't be happy if we had to reboot our Xbox or Play Station every couple of days.

We wouldn't accept it if we had to reset our watches twice a week.

Microsoft will have to address these issues. My daughter has an iPhone as well as an ipad. She never switches them off and in over 12 months she's never had to soft or hard reset either device.

Quality control....this is something MS needs to focus on

I'm not using anything that I'd consider intensive. No games. Happens after a reboot too.

I've had the phone since launch. I may jump to fast ring, but I rely on my phone as a daily driver and since certain things like the wallet and outloook don't backup right now, having to re-add my cards is a pain.

Huh, is this unique to the 950? I have never had this problem with the 950XL. The only time I have had the issue being referred to here is with my 1020 last year on fast ring.

The slow down was happening for me for a couple of days but It's stopped recently, it seems to come stay for a couple of days then leave. It's really random imo

It's possible the recovery tool updated the firmware too. :)

it cant just be a cache issue. the phone handles a lot of stuff messed up and the fact that the cooling in the phone doesnt work as well as it should. Ive encountered this plenty of times. sometimes my phone doesnt turn back on at all. or screen dims and doesnt undim till power screen off and back on

I should have said this is the only time, (So far) that I have a problem.

Once I get the proximity sensor clear of my hands, fingers, etc..then I can DTTW, and enter my pin or attempt to let it see me.
If I left it on the Game screen, it gets a bit tricky with black screen lag and trying to swipe up the lock screen.

I'm also experiencing this issue on my 950. Also the outlook disk space errormessage. On fast ring rs2. I'll wait for the next build and see if it resolves it, if not I'm doing WDRT.

Welcome to Windows As A Service for Mobile phones :winktongue::grincry:. I've always maintained it will never work for consumer phones... unfortunately it's the trend they are following and I don't see it ending anytime soon. I wish they would follow the xbox route and keep the constant updates / control tests to the insider programme only.

Sure there are advantages however the disadvantages out weigh the pros for consumers.
