Flag/Star message in IMAP Email Account

Is it possible to mark a message as flagged/starred for an email message in an IMAP email account on WP7?

When I go into "select" mode (where you get the checkboxes to the left of the messages in the list), my only actions for the selected messages are "delete" and "move" (via icons) and "mark as read" and "mark as unread" (as text, below the icons).

I mark/flag/star (whatever you want to call it) messages all of the time to remind myself to follow-up on them later, so this apparent omission on WP7 is a pretty major issue.

Related question: Will this be available in Mango?

hmm the only thing you could do maybe as a work arround for now ( not sure if mango will have it )

Foward your self the e-mail: open it - click on, Respond - Forward

once you do that on the next page click on the 3 button at buttom - Priority - HIGH

this will send your e-mail into your URGENT section of your imbox ( on your wp )

That's certainly an option, but I'm hoping there's a way (or will be a way) to actually do native flagging, as supported by all normal IMAP email clients. I've yet to see MSFT build an IMAP email client that works properly on any device or operating system.

yeah i hope they do as well i use *FLAGS* on my Outlook all the time at work to remind me of things ( link with my TASK)

witch bring me to my next idea, you could simply add a reminder in your TASk to check a specific E-mail . naturaly wp7 doesnt let you link task to e-mails yet but atlease your phone will let you know something is up. and simply add subject: check email- subject ( that way you know what your reminder is ;)

There was an app on my BlackBerry called MessageToTask that worked great. When I received an email that I wanted to follow up on, I hit the menu button and selected "Add (MesageToTask)" and it would copy the text of the email into the Notes area and the subject line into the Title area of a new task that I could sent a follow up time on. This would be great on WP7 if any developers are listening (And it's possible on WP7, of course).

I really hope this is fixed in Mango. I say "fixed" because implementing IMAP without support for flagging messages is an incomplete implementation. This is very nearly a deal-breaker for me.

Here's a scenario:
1) Wake up, go to email on WP7 device
2) Scan through emails, delete some, read some, reply to some
3) For some emails, they are not urgent and will require a lengthy reply -- instead of doing it on the WP7 device which would take forever, I just flag it so I can do it later from my desktop PC.

I do the above daily on my current phone and without flagging support on WP7, it's seriously annoying to reconcile email. I know I could mark as unread, but read/unread and flag/star are separate things for a reason and I already have a system in place.

Doing replies to myself, creating tasks, and things like that are not solving anything, it just causes more work and is a cumbersome hack.

I hope MS is reading this...
