Anyone considering the "deal" noted in Get a factory refurbished Lumia Icon from eBay for $249.99 | Windows Central should do their homework before purchasing. That is true in any case but even more so given the title and article text are factually incorrect. The vendor has no affiliation with VZW and is not selling factory refurbished phones. They are selling "seller refurbished" phones and there is a huge difference. Seller refurbished means they are the ones checking it out, not the manufacturer, and they are not necessarily refurbishing anything. I doubt they even could really refurbish a device given they are not meant to be user serviceable and the company specializes in the fast turnover of used phones from various manufacturers. These are used phones that they have typically checked to verify basic functionality and that the ESN code is clean. Oh, you can also get the same price from them on Amazon with a bit more protection regarding returns. It has been their price for quite some time.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the vendor since I haven't purchased any of their products. Do not, however, decide this looks like a good deal based upon the fact they are selling factory refurbished devices. That is not what they are selling and it would be nice if the people on this site took a shot at even basic fact checking. The vendor has not misrepresented what they are selling - it is this site that has done the misrepresentation of the product....

I have recently joined Verizon and bought an M8 and was thinking about this deal yesterday but after looking around it just seems to be a bad move.

I'm just going to wait on Windows phone to bottom out. Personally not getting the Verizon version because it's buggy with GSM carriers (ATT, T-Mobile, ect), particular MMS a hit or miss from ever working.

If anything I'll pick up the 930, just not the Icon, especially after Verizon walked away from supporting it. Such a shame too. Of course, could change my mind if the price is just right. Still, such a shame this device got dumped. Maybe when it hits $150?

"Verizon is still supporting the phone", they just aren't selling it anymore. Possibly due to sending the phones back to receive the new Microsoft logo instead of the current Nokia one.

That and it's only available in the USA, the seller does not ship it outside of the country.

At first I was like 250$ that's a bargain but then I remember that Verizon isn't that supportive when it comes to the Icon.... or Windows Phone in general.

I said I'll wait for a Windows 10 phone or close to it and that's what I'll do, wait... at least it will be within a year.

And WC didn't make a correction concerning their misinformation - it's a blog that's why
and blogs rarely care or fact check...it's the credibility gap blogs are famous for. IE lazy.
