Grocery (Shopping) List App - Cross-Platform With Android?

Hello -

I just purchased a Lumia 925 (T-Mobile) and have joined the world of WP8. So far, I must say I really like it. Especially as a family that already has two Zunes (and Xbox Music subscription).

One thing that I am wondering about, though, is whether or not there is a shopping list app that can share lists with other platforms (particularly Android, in my case). Coming from a two-Android house that used Out of Milk to a split (Android/WP8) house, it's kind of a problem. If you've ever used a shopping list app, it's terrific for when I'm on my way home and my wife is adding items from home while juggling our toddler. It really is a much-missed capability.

Any ideas?

I started out using an app called Listonic. What's cool about this app is you can create your lists on your laptop/desktop at home and it automatically sync to the app on your phone. (I know, OneNote can do the same but this is designed for shopping whereas OneNote is not). But the people at Listonic haven't updated this app since it was introduced for Windows 7. Hasn't done much on IOS either.

What I'm using today is an app called ValuePhone. Perhaps a name that has seemingly has no relation to shopping but it is updated for Windows Phone 8. Its cross platform and works in a similar fashion to Listonic..which I still like but no longer use. Try em both. Both are free and neither has those annoying ads.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I'm trying to check out ValuePhone, but it appears that I can't register an account yet - hopefully it's just a server issue on their side.

It looks fairly decent, but it still leaves a lot to be desired compared to Out of Milk (which has exploded into a very large user base between Android and iPhone).

Why not use One Note? That's what me and the wife use for shopping. We both have the shopping list pinned to start screen on our phones. As soon as she adds something, my list gets updated right away. A quick search revealed that its available for Android.

I do the majority of the grocery shopping for our house, so for me finding an app that would let me create saved lists sorted by aisle, so I could basically recreate the layout of my path through the store, was a big deal. If we need something added to the list, family members text or email me because invariably my list is most complete, or I can text or email the list to someone else.
Anyway, the only app I have found that does that is One Shopping List, which works perfectly for me. It has two reviews in the store, a glowing one from me and a horrible one from someone who I am certain just doesn't get what the developer is trying do with his concept of shopping "paths".
No, there is no Android version, but it is the best shopping app in the store imo.
ETA: and Onenote would sync well too, just lacks features for organizing the list.

One Shopping List doesn't look bad. Does it sync with the desktop or do you have to input everything using the phone?

I'm using Grocery Gadget to sync shopping lists between my L920 and my wife's iPhone. It also syncs to the web. I'm pretty sure there's an Android version.

I use OneNote, and it is great. You can organize by aisle if you want by putting them on separate pages in your notebook. Or, you could just have the list sorted and divided by aisle, which would be easiest. It is awesome, my wife and I view/edit the list on our phones, tablet, laptop, and desktop, and it all syncs so beautifully. We also use OneNote to track our business mileage on our car, and general household tasks that need to be done. OneNote is very versatile, and the ability to create the more complex stuff on your PC is fantastic.

The "WIFE AND I" also use OneNote for our shopping list and also our TARGET shopping list. We also use it for shared family tasks/errands and lists of movies we want to see.

The list will sync via a SkyDrive account on multiple devices (I just never use this) but does not have a desktop client. I have tried lists with that feature but I just never used it. I use my phone so much, I usually have it handy, so I never found myself using a desktop client.

The developer, Artur Pusztai, was very quick to respond to my emails, he is happy to take suggestions on the app. I was confused by it at first but now that I get what he is trying to do, I think it's great. ANYWAY not to hijack this thread, I think OneNote would serve the OP best for his needs.

Evernote, share the login. If you don't like notifications ( I don't) just send a text when you add something to the list. Our don't, the next time one of us goes top the store we just check evernote

Yes One Note is very versatile. You can pretty much set it up for any kind of list you wish. You can even add pictures, audio recording, map links, all kinds of things. The PC app/program is even more powerful than the phone (think Microsoft Office on PC vs phone). And its free for all platforms (I think).
