Help: How to Deactivate Screen Reader on Windows Phone 8.1

I inadvertently activated screen reader for my Lumia 1020. For the past 2 hours I couldn't use the phone. I pressed every tab and searched on the internet but I couldn't find solution. Someone should kindly help explain how I could get out of this.

Are you referring to the function that reads screen contents out loud? If so it can be disabled by holding volume up and then pressing the start button.

hi,
I have a Lumia 820. My kid has accidently activated screen reader. This brings a yellow rectangle on the screen and reads out loud the screen contents. Its not even letting me open the lock screen.
How do i disable? I have tried the Volume UP button + Start button, but no luck.
Please help.
