How do I get out of demo mode for my HTC one M8?

My brother bought this phone for me on my birthday from a guy he knows from his job but it's on retail mode I took it to the Verizon store and the told me it wasn't stolen but that they could not help me. Anyone got any advice? Please I've been stuck for two weeks

I've tried but it won't let me i think the fastboot is on

I don't know if the Nokia Software Recovery Tool would recognize your phone or not. My first guess would be that it wouldn't, but that is the software that was released by Nokia to reflash the firmware onto the phone.

Except it is an HTC not a Nokia... Forget the SRT.

My understanding is that Windows Phone demos are a separate ROM. It's stuck with demo-ware. Take it back and get a customer model, not a display unit.

You won't be able to. It's a "dummy" retail unit, not meant for consumers

I saw a demo unit in a retail shop.. I just pressed the start button and it took to the start menu. Is it able to do that???
