How do I make calls go to voicemail if I don't answer after a few rings?

If I miss a call I'd like it to go to voicemail so they can leave a message. How do I set this up? At the moment it just rings and rings until stating that I'm unavailable at the moment.

Please tell me this is actually possible. I don't want to forward the call to voicemail instantly, just after a certain amount of rings.

what carrier are you using? Im on ATT and the call settings cannot be modified while you are on 4G or LTE you have to switch to 3G to change them but my voicemail is set up to go to voicemail automatically aftr so many rings.

Its normally a carrier setting not a phone one.

Thankyou! The activate and register number code worked after a few failed attempts involving me putting my own number in instead of the voicemail number. Brilliant. I'm with T-Mobile by the way, for anyones future reference.

I'm a newbie and confused by the information in the table. For 'no answer', it says "Activate * 61 * Number # SND". What does that mean? I can enter *61*#SND" but what is the Number to use?

I've always just pressed the button to reject a call or the "hang up" key, depending on my particular phone at the moment and it would just direct the caller straight to my voicemail. I'm also on T-Mobile, by the way. As far as I know, it's always worked.
