How does the cyan type cover wear?

I ordered the surface pro 3 and a cyan type cover the day that it was up for pre-order. After I ordered it I started to worry about how well the cyan type cover would wear. To me it seems that a color as light as cyan would show dirt pretty quickly. I love the look of the cyan and hope that the feedback that I get contradicts my current thoughts. A few days after I pre-ordered I also ordered a purple type cover because it's darker.....I think I have a problem. Thank you for any feedback.

First keyboard I ever had was white (14 years ago). It got dirty very fast and I hated it. Ever since then, I've always gone with black, which is what I will do for SP3. I like the Cyan color as well and the reason for your concern is why I won't be getting it.

I'll be honest.. My type 2 cyan keyboard.. Has a green hue to it. Not on the top where my palms lie, but on the bottom that touches dirty tables on a daily basis.

I'm typing this response from a black type cover on my surface pro 2. I think I'll be sending the cyan back and just keeping the purple type cover. I don't know why, but I feel like the color of the surface pro 3 deserves a cover that has at least a little bit of color.

Thanks for the info. I think that the red type cover will have the same fate. It's a shame, both are great looking covers. I think the purple will hold up well though.

I chose the purple too based on all the same concerns that you had. I looked at the red color at the Microsoft store and can see that it is already slightly dirty around the edges underneath the keyboard. Cyan will probably get dirty quickly too. Purple to get me some color and seems dark enough to hide the wear. The other alternative is the Best Buy blue but I am just ordering from the MS store.

Is the only way to get the Blue Keyboard from Best Buy tied up with having to buy the SP3 there as well? Just curious.

I've ordered the Dark Blue cover from Best Buy without having to order the SP3 there. Also my cyan touch cover gets dirty from dirty surfaces etc....so you're probably better off with a darker color

I'd have to agree with everyone else - I love the Cyan color of my Type Cover 2, but it just gets too dirty for my liking. I have a Cyan cover preordered through the Microsoft Store, but I also have a Blue cover coming from Best Buy. I checked out the Blue cover there yesterday and it looks great while still dark enough to "hide" the dirt.

I have a feeling I'll be returning the Cyan cover and keeping the Blue one.

I had preordered the cyan and was all excited about it, but then I read this thread. Major buzzkill, dudes. I mean it all makes sense but crap.

I loved my cyan Lumia 900. If these things were $30 I'd get the cyan and another color, but $130 is too much to risk having to buy another.

Lol, sorries. Really. I'm sure, though, there is probably some liquid that can be used to clean the covers. I'll experiment with mine later.

They can be cleaned....just a slightly damp towel with some warm soapy water will get it clean....just remeber, "slightly damp" not "wet!"

I got the dark blue type cover from best buy thinking that the darker color would hide the dirt. I think I am now going to get the black one, because the dark blue does show the dirt on the back. I have an surface rt with the black touch cover and it has a different material kinda gray and black it has held up very well and does not show any thing.

I have the Cyan and it does get dirty but easily cleans off with a little water. The only thing I DON'T like is the trackpad apparently stains easily and that for some reason will not wash off. It looks like my fingerprints are imbedded on it. Strange. I do also have the black one and will keep this one. The Cyan one malfunctioned so I am going to send it back.

You can clean the keyboards. Just make sure water doesn't go in the keys, or the connector. Be sure it's completely dry before attaching it, for precaution.
I clean my black keyboard (Type cover 2) at least 3-4 times a month. But I am neat. Make it look like brand new.

I went to purple after having cyan because the cyan had a tear on a corner and I wanted to change it up. Cyan does get dirty, you can clean it, but it never looks fresh from the box.

I almost got the Cyan one but I saw how dirty the one on display was. I got the black instead :)

I have the dark blue cover too. While the underside is not too bad, I find that where my wrists sit on the KB, there are whitish patches. Looks ungainly. Would wiping it down with a slightly damp cloth etc. work for remove that? Thanks.
