A fabulous job documenting the process and supporting folks who own the AT&T 830!

I was able to flash my 830 before the package was taken down, but my wife's phone would have still been in update purgatory without a way to flash it. Used my downloaded / cached package and downloaded the NCS tool from the top post in this thread - everything went well. In addition, because I now had a way to recover my phone with update 2 / denim, I went back to WP10 TP - armed with the updated firmware.

I do hope the firmware package is released at some point though.

I don't see a link to the NCS tool in any of the posts. Just to be sure, is this it:

Nokia Care Suite - Download

I assume I download from that link. Does it matter if it goes directly to my phone, or to the SD card?

Thanks for all your help. And I apologize in advance if these are silly/obvious questions.

The links needed are in the 1st. If you didn't see them, check again. They are there. As for your your link, uncertain as to what version it is. Also, as mentioned. It's a desktop app, not a phone app.

OK, I see a link to NCS inside the link to the instructions posted in the previous topic. I was looking for a direct link in the OP.

Quick question...

In the original post, step (6), is says this:

6. Browse to the download folder you extracted (see packages link below)

Can I clarify, I downloaded a zip file called:

RM-983(only 02179).zip

I have unpacked it and note it contains a folder structure:

RM-983

This folder then contains:

040-121998_ATT_RM-983_001_light.png

Am I correct in saying that it is these 16 files that should be stored in:

C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products\rm-983\

Thanks for posting these instructions, other than not being sure about the above they're really helpful

For others, the link to NCS I posted above gets to Nokia Care Suite 5.0 (148.12 MB). The link inside the link in the OP gets you to a larger file labeled 5.4.

For clarification - Nokia Care Suite 5.4.119.1432 - listed in the initiating post of this thread

I successfully flashed this last night - many thanks all around. I wasn't able to go the Recovery route, though, instead using the Refurbish option. I couldn't get the timing right with holding power & volume down and I wouldn't seem to ever get it to vibrate. But, NCS detected my phone just fine using the Refurbish option.

Now, I'm debating putting W10 on it...

Related question about this ROM and WPRT from a new (whaaa?) Windows phone user. I flashed the official Lumia Denim AT&T ROM to my Lumia 830 with WPRT while it was live. This works great!

Let's say I need to use WPRT to reflash WP8.1, to do a clean upgrade to the Windows 10 Technical Preview or final build. My question is, will WPRT to downgrade me to the previous, pre-Denim ROM, necessitating me reflashing that ROM using this method?

Thanks for any assistance!

if the situation is the same as it is now (files not on official server nor OTA), then the answer is yes you would have to go the route listed in the OP. In this case WPRT will grab the pre 8.1 Update 2 and incomplete Denim rom if you used it.

I don't know what browser you are using. The links to the files, including NCS are on the first post at bottom. Am I missing something?

Excellent. Thanks for the info! Hopefully, the real Denim ROM will come back via WPRT.

One quick question.... when doing this is it safe to leave a MicroSD and the SIM still in the phone or should we remove them just to be safe?

Awesome! Worked just like you guys said it would. Now I just have to sit through the boring process of re-downloading all my apps.
