How to share/email full resolution images (Guide with image steps)

Hi all,

Not too sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but I have seen a few posts asking how to share full resolution images.
This is a guide with steps (not well explained in other posts) so that you too can share images easily.

Step 1: Download and install Pocket File Manager (worth the $$)

Step 2: Open the app and add an image source for your photos






Step 3: Enable Background Settings

Make sure run in "background is enabled" and so is "show thumbnails".
This is to ensure your image continues to upload when emailing and you can see which image you would like to select in the file browser.



Step 4: Add Mail settings

I found the outlook/MS mail worked best. Make sure to leave SSL off (didn't work for me when selected)
To select outlook/live click on predefined servers.



Step 5: Email a file/photo

Make sure to shut down the app and close it from memory. Then open the app and navigate to your photo folder.
Find the larger full resolution image and long press it. Select the email option.



You can now send a full resolution image. FTW!

Why would you want to go this route, rather than sending a direct link via the OneDrive app?

Unless they've changed OneDrive, you'd essentially share the entire Album the pic is in. That may not bother some people. Even if you don't really have "private" stuff, you may not want to share an entire album to show off a picture.

Because now it is a 2 step process. First, upload and wait for Onedrive. Then open the app and find the file. And then generate a share link. Then copy and email the link.

With this, it is open your photo and send. That's much faster and direct.

I've had many friends laugh when I send a OneDrive link. They always ask why not just attach to an email directly?

I have a question for you. Do we have to set up a email account in the "Pocket File Manager" app? By looking at your screenshots, it seems like we do.

If so, then this means we do not access our native email app but email pics through "Pocket File Manager". Correct?

Yes that is correct. The app has an email function built into it. The developers have set up everything so all you do is select an outlook/live account in options as shown and just enter in your credentials. You only have to do this once, and after that you just have to long press on a file to send via email

But can HD photo viewer share the high_Res picture? As far as I can tell it "shares" the 5Mb picture.

I thought that this can be done with the Files app, the one from Microsoft Corporation, but apparently not. I was able to attach my largest raw .dng photo file (approx. 21MB) and email it to myself by selecting the share option. This works fine, but I do not have an app that I can use to open or view the .dgn file. However, selecting the high res .jpg version of the file (approx. 8MB) only ends up emailing a tiny version of the file (about 450kb).

When I email photos, I just zip them up and then email. The other person can then unzip and get the high-res jpg out.

Wont email a raw or full resolution file. Try it.
Btw I'm not a developer. Just a WP user. Don't like my advice then don't take it. I find it rude that you are insinuating that I am doing this for profit. I did it because I wanted to help and nothing more.

How are you zipping them on your phone?

Using 8 Zip. It had a promo and was free for some time. Really excellent app. You can try the lite version to see how it is.
