How well do contacts and texts transfer to non-Lumia phones?

This might sound like a silly question, but I have never not used a Lumia for Windows Phone/Mobile before. I'm going to be trying the Blu Win phone experiences. (Experiences because of impatience, don't ask)

Since I have had Lumia, the transition has always been seamless. I know that my contacts are saved in the cloud, but how does it go for texts? I have backup on for them as well, and I'm not sure if I would need the "Transfer my data" app to transfer that information.

SMS messages are the same. They're stored alongside your outlook.com messages, so will appear just fine.

As long as the appropriate "backup" settings are enabled, of course.
