Hello!
Maps application doesn`t start on my HTC 8X. When I bought the phone it worked very well and now it crashes when I press on it.
I downloaded some games from Windows Phone Store, section "Top free". Since I downloaded the games, my Maps application started to crash, but with iterruptions (going once, another time it does not work), and now I have just Hill Climb Racing, but Maps still doesn`t work. It appears that is loading, then it closes and I get to start screen.
The fist picture is the start menu, and the other one appears when I press the Maps button.
I attached some screens... Can anyone help me?

Welcome andrei. I wouldn't have thought downloading some games would have affected your maps, unless you were running out of space after you installed them.

I take it you have already tried switching the phone off and back on again. This is a simple suggestion, but it's always the first thing to try.

The other suggestion I would have is to perhaps delete the map history and temporary files. To do this, go into Settings, then swipe across to 'applications'. Then tap on 'maps'. You will then see the 'delete history' button. Note - This will remove your past searches, temporary files and pins etc. If you are OK with this, just tap 'delete'. Afterwards, see if the maps app will now open normally.

Thanks for your answer.
I had already tried power off and on and it didn`t worked.
The other suggestion was very useful, because Maps opened fast and correctly. But I tried something: The first time after deleting history was working. When I saw that, I closed the application then I opened it again. I receive the same error, like before. It appears that I must delete the history everytime I want to use Maps, or it won`t open.
Is there any solution?

Ok, no worries. It's not going to be that practical in clearing the history every time you want to use maps, so we'll try some other things.

Do you have any maps downloaded to your phone? To check, go back into the map settings, like you did before, then instead of deleting the history, tap on the button that says "download maps". If you have any maps already downloaded to your phone, it will display them here and it's size in MB's.

What country are you from as well, because you can get HERE Maps on HTC devices now, but they are only available in certain countries for free.

Ok. I had the Romania Maps pack with 116.5 MB size.
I`m from Romania, and I have searched Here Maps on the romanian windows store and I found the application.
What now?

I've just double checked actually and Nokia state that HERE Maps is free for everyone worldwide now (it used to be that some countries could get the app, but would need to pay for it, but not anymore).

As HERE Maps should work fine, download this from store and see if this works. HERE Maps uses the same map data as the built in Maps app, but has a newer looking interface and includes extra features such as LiveSight view and HERE Collections etc, which are useful. Try the HERE Maps and see if this works for you.

HERE Maps seems to work fine, I don`t get any error.
Just one time when I was continuous closing Bing Maps and opening HERE Maps to see if it works, HERE MAPS closed like Bing, but now it works well. Thanks for your answers.
Bing Maps works only with Wi-Fi turned on.

No problem, good hear that the HERE Maps looks to be running ok, lets hope it stays this way. I wouldn't worry too much about the Bing Maps app now, I would just continue using HERE Maps from now on as your main one. I've found it to be very good :)
