The Nokia/Microsoft deal is pretty good in theory.

Nokia helps Microsoft on the global market
Microsoft helps Nokia on the united states
Microsoft gives Nokia tons of money
Microsoft gives nokia a good OS

How come? Nokia has the best phone camera, this camera is enough to differentiate from the other oems. They didn't put it on Windows Phone.

Now the 8X came out and suddenly the 920 looks antiquated. I said it before, Nokia hides ugly designs in bright colors, this phone looks great and offers colors.

It doesn't represent the best HTC has to offer neither in terms of specs but it was made from the ground up with Windows Phone in mind, something I've being asking for a long time.

The 8X design didn't came from Android or Meego, it was done for Windows Phone. It looks great, is light, is fresh. It had people talking, and to be honest, the name HTC looks more appealing than Nokia. Which has done nothing for Microsoft in the states. ( it has worldwide though)

Because then the same people who were complaining about the Nokia's weight, width, bezel, and thickness would be even more angry at the camera hump. Nokia hasn't figured out how to make the sensor smaller yet, so if they included it it'd still be huge.

And we, of course, know how important having a paper-thin and feather light phone is. (sarcasm)

I really like what HTC has done with the design though. I think it actually may look better than the Lumia.

Here is what I expected for the 920.

Either to be a heavy thick phone with a 41mp camera or a light, thin devices with an 8mp
camera.

Nokia gave a heavy, thick phone with a 8mp camera. The worst of both worlds.

There's no reason for a 2012 phone to be that thick and heavy.

HTC and Samsung dint need MS`s cash! maybe they did get approached and refused the deal, we dont know.

Well Microsoft probably wouldn't offer them cash unless they'd give up Android. Which they probably would never, so I'm pretty sure Microsoft wouldn't bother.

about 2 years ago ( when they made the deal with MS )

the OS Nokia had where doing horrible! why do you think MS approached NOKIA in the first place? .. lol ,

they where closing ALL store and falling FAST, and stocks plummeted , Nokia Shares have only started to grow over the last 2-3 months. thanks to what you think? mego and synbian? no way ,

HTC and Samsung dint need MS`s cash! maybe they did get approached and refused the deal, we dont know.

Yes I know Nokia drive was arround before WP , but what I was trying to say ( corrected it in he next post ) is that the ONLY reason we got Nokia drive on ALL WP was cause of the MS/Nokia partnership. do you think Nokia is happy that HTC and Samsung is gona have NOKIA drive on their phones? lol

I dont agree with this:

What imagination did NOKIA bring to WP7? Cya colour with carbon fiber casing?

Well I guess they were so unimaginative that HTC thought it was ok to copy them now...;)

And your other points, cant find any info on Nokia declaring or being near bankruptcy (apart from the normal useless analyst BS).

I'm not sure why you think MS approached Nokia because they were in financial trouble, MS is no white knight.

Their shares are not even close to turning around, and whatever state they are in is because of the entire business, not just solely due to WP.

I'm pretty sure HTC and Samsung would not say no to some cash from MS. They werent approached because MS did not think they had anything worth buying.

I'm not sure why it's so heavy either. I mean the Lumia 900 wasn't light to begin with, but it was an acceptable weight. But I guess when you make the screen larger, give it sort of curved glass, add wireless charging, and optical image stabilization, larger battery, and make it sturdier, I guess it adds up to 25 grams?

I guess if the Lumia 900 was lightweight to begin with, the Lumia 920 wouldn't have been so heavy compared to the Ativ and the 8X.

well Nokia was falling fast maybe not total bankruptcy.

I never said MS was a white knight , for all we know MS approached ALL the OEM`s and Nokia was the only one to accept the deal because of their financial problems, ( who would say no to $$ lol )

NOkia Stocks have been going down over the last 2-3 years and only int he last couple month have Nokia stock STARTED to show a glimps of hope . considering WP is what they sale the most of now I think WP is partially responsible for helping them a little.

they should of just went with Android (business wise). lol :giggle:

Cristal_Planet everyone with an objective point of view knows Nokia is screwing up. Even Microsoft bailed out and appointed HTC as their flagship makers.

That's cool. I've no issue with MSFT anointing HTC as their device of choice.

I don't have a device of choice myself. I guess I'll wait and see what fits me best.

What is the thickness difference between the ativ, 920, and 8x? I think the ativ is the thinner, and the 920 and 8x are almost the same, yes?

The 8X is only a half-millimeter thinner than the 920, and the Ativ S is 2 mm thinner. (8mm and change instead of 10 mm and change). In my opinion, the difference between 8 mm and 10 mm will not be measurable except in a back-to-back comparison.

The bigger difference is weight. The Ativ S and 8X are both around 130 grams; the Lumia 920 weighs 185 grams, about 50% more. I'm not saying the Lumia 920 will be onerously heavy, but you can tell when one phone weighs 50% more than another.

Seriously dude. You're a moderator. You really need to step away from the fray.

FYI: Being a MOD means nothing. aside from having to Filter your USELESS comments.

That was mine. It was in response to your post - which I thought was inflammatory (regardless to which phone it was directed at). It may have been viewed as over stepping my bounds, but it certainly wasn't trolling, I can assure you.

I do apologize though, it's not my forum and it's not my rules - I forgot that.

What I had said might have been a little aggressive in the way I said it , but it was on topic :) ether way , i dint mean to attack any ONE directly , just a point of view on a product.

I apologize if you felt targeted as it was not my intention.

lets not lose sleep over this :)

I think WP would be where it is. if MS dint give cash to NOKIA they would have given it to an other OEM. witch would of been able to use that cash to the SAME THING Nokia`s has been doing.

Heh you forget the reasons, at least the publicly stated ones, that MS spoke on why they went with Nokia-->Nokia's patents, maps, and market share in regions MS needed to get a foot hold including developing markets. The market share being the most important and maps being second. Does Samsung or HTC even have that kind of mindshare that Nokia has?

So if MS didn't go with Nokia, Bing maps would have chugged along even more slowly and they wouldn't have made a dent into places like India and China.

And so because of that you and brmiller1976, similarly but on release dates (weird), gotta be all whiny about it all over the forums dragging Nokia's name through the mud like it's going to change anything? All because for whatever weird reason you find it such a personal attack for not meeting your expectations?

I mean some of the specs on the 8X and ATIV S don't meet my expectations but you don't see me making a thread calling HTC or Samsung crap and saying something akin to, "There's no reason for a 2012 phone to have/not have <insert feature or physical attribute>"

Talk about beautiful design that feels like it's made with Windows Phone in mind. Something new, something fresh, something that represent the very best on the company.

What is Nokia going to do now? The 8X is basically a better looking, much lighter Lumia 920 that's available on all major carriers. Maybe if it had real pureview it might differentiate themselves but they blow it hard.

Edit: The Beat part is a pun.
Are you guys done debating now? Let's see the score:

Poll - Nokia Lumia 920, HTC 8X, Samsung ATIV S, which will be yours? | wpcentral | Windows Phone News, Forums, and Reviews

People appreciate innovations. It shows.

It's best to just ignore the trolls otherwise they will make you bang your head on a hard surface if you read enough of their posts.

How does that poll change anything? It just show the 920 is more popular in this site. That's all there is to it.

As far as WP is concerned, this site is quite a hotspot. I'll place a sportsmen's bet with you that the Lumia 920 will destroy all other Wp8 devices in sales.
