Hypothetical??

So much for my warm and fuzzy feeling. Since I posted I was going to keep this phone it's locked up on me two or three times. I don't know what's going to end up happening with this situation, but it is so frustrating to have a good operating system hampered by glitches. The thing that really gets me is the guy at Verizon that I bought my phone from has an 822 and says he hasn't had the first problem with his. Maybe WP is allergic to me?

I did notice that all of the other devices you mentioned having are non-LTE. I suspect the issue has to do with handoff between LTE/1X-EVDO. That sounds like it could be a carrier issue and/or a device. The only way to tell would be to try a different LTE device; if it behaves the same, then it's a VZW issue.

I have quite a few, too many to list here. I believe most of them are reasonably popular, don't think any of them are obscure apps.

In the 822 forum there's a thread with 93 posts on random reboots and lockups so it's not just mine.

Reset your phone and try it for a few days without installing any applications and see if you have any problems.

It only takes one bad application to screw your phone up.

I totally agree, experienced that more than once when I had my motorola droid. I can reset my phone and not install anything, but the issue is so random I don't know how I could tell if the problem was gone. Reading through the forums and not just the 822 forums it's far from a rare problem. I really hope Microsoft figures out what's going on with these phones, but going off the history I had with my Trophy it might take a while. You guys that have problem free WP8 devices are fortunate. I'm hoping to get to a problem free phone sooner or later.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and they are sending me a California blue HTC 8X. I'm excited to see how that phone does for me.

When you get the 8X, run it for a couple of weeks without installing any application to see if you have any issues with it.

Some of the best news I have heard all day.

I am excited about it. I know Nokia has a lot of neat applications and I'll miss Nokia music, but I'm looking forward to a top-notch camera (the 822 camera isn't bad but it is slow) and I'm interested in how my Nokia Purity HD earbuds sound with the HTC amp. With my 822 they sound amazing so I can only imagine with the 8X.

I'm going to put my apps on it and see how it does. If I have problems I'll reset then go without any apps. That will be difficult, but I can try.

Ok, we'll leave this thread open so you can come back in a week and tell us about your random reboot issues.

Lol I would be mad! Seriously, here's my thinking on the apps. The first 822 I had locked up before I even got home. I don't remember if I had any apps on it at that time, but if I did it wasn't but one or two. To me that rules out a bad app. The second 822 I restored all my apps from a backup and this phone has issues with locking up. If I reset the phone and went a week without apps and it didn't lock up, which app is the culprit? Lets say I have 30 apps. I would need to install one app and use the phone a week to rule that app out. One app at a time for a week at a time adds up to a long time. If this was a situation where I just installed an app or two and the phone started going haywire I would just delete the last two apps and go from there. That's something I had to do a time or two in my android days. Now I'm not at all saying an app hasn't caused my problems, but with the way the first 822 locked up right off the bat and the number of threads here on WPCentral about phones locking up and randomly rebooting I'm leaning toward software issues with these phones. All I know for sure is I've got my fingers crossed that the phone I've got coming will work like it's supposed to so I can have a trouble free WP experience.

Maybe there is a flaw with Backup/Restore that keeps putting a corrupted file back on your phone.

I don't know, but I'm hoping the 8X treats me a bit better. On a more positive note both my parents upgraded to the Lumia 920 yesterday. I'm going to have to make it by their house and give them some one on one training, lol.
