I7 screams

Hi,

I want to replace my current laptop.
I normally run Visual Studio and Adobe CS3 plus VMs which contain SQL Server, Sharepoint and Linux among other things.
My current laptop is :

Core i5 2.5
16 GB RAM
500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive
DVD drive

Will the Core i7 with 8 GB cut it especially with VMs? Also most of the software I have are on DVD hence I definitely need a DVD drive? I can't see any accessory with DVD drive on MS store?
Any ideas?

Yes it will run everything, really, really well. However you won't like what the VM platform does with connected standby. I bought the version I did so I could run Hyper V. You lose the sleep option. I am hoping MS will deliver a bios update that allows me to disable CS and restore normal sleep modes like my other machines.

Very frustrated with only this at the moment. Otherwise I love the SP 3.

Aren't other VMs an option, or do they have the same effect as Hyper V?

Sad when you spend so much and have to worry about case temperature.
