iPhone 3Gs --> Lumia 820 switch - worth?

2-3 months? For me it's a long time - on iPhone you get all the updates instantly. I hope carriers aren't so lazy about WP8 here, in Poland.

Another thing is my hope, that Microsoft will support current WP8 devices for a long time.

Keeping it short, I went from the 4s to the 820 (Now 920) and every bit of it seemed like an upgrade. The panel was actually remarkably beautiful.

I would go with the 920 because of the increased memory. The WP8 devices tend to use more memory than iphone and WP7 devices. I am nearly full on my memory because of the "other Storage"

Storage check, Reinstalling apps and Not allowing SkyDrive backup of photos should work.
I should know because I use a 620 without a microSD Card.

I forgot about one important thing: I'm going to buy a phone, which I would use for around 3 years - do you think, that Lumia 820 would be still good after 3 years?

1) Lumia 820 has rather low resoulution and a big screen. Is it a big problem? On my iPhone 3Gs it's a big problem, because sometimes it's really hard to read small letters and some elements of the UI are really pixelated - it does not look good. Is Lumia 820 encountering similiar issues?
Its really crisp, check a local store and play with the device if in doubt.
2) Lumia 820 has only 8GB of memory. On my 3Gs I have 16GB and sometimes it's not enough for me. However L820 has SD card slot. The question is: what can be stored on SD card? I know that apps cannot be installed on a SD card, are there any more limitations?
Yes the apps cannot be installed on SD card, but you can pop in a 32 Gig card and load your music, pics and videos in it, no limitations on it
3) Should I switch from iPhone to Lumia? Are here any iPhone owners who switched to WP8? What do you think?
I am not a true Ios to WP switch but surely Ios > Android > WP, IOS no doubt is a good OS in terms of Apps (loaded with bunch of stupid ads), games but hey do you really buy a phone to play games on a tiny screen :s?
I prefer playing on a PC or a console, Ios has jailbreaks and things like that which wp doesn't have.
4) Are there any guitar amp apps in WP Store? I'm using Amplitube on iPhone and I wish I could do it on Lumia.
Not sure as i was only thinking of learning a guitar and never really went around it

What about the 8GB of storage? Is it enough for you guys? Don't you have problems with it? ANother thing: How much memory does L820 have for the user? How much of this 8GB does OS take?

What about the battery? It's capacity is bigger than on my 3Gs, but on the other hand the screen is bigger. How long does the L820 work after disconnecting from the charger? Can any 3Gs owner tell me which phone is better talking about battery?

In real world you don't get to use the full 8GB.
You get approx 7.28GB, out of which system eats up 1.9GB, and the rest is left for device settings, other files etc.,

I have a 32GB card in the phone and store all music, vids on the card itself. (I use 720)

To be honest the 820's battery is bad for its hardware, Nokia gave it muscle but the battery can't back it up.

I don't own a 820 but its specs speak for itself, a 1650 mAh battery is really not worthwhile for this monster.

There are 2 reasons I can think of why someone would do that. Bigger screen/phone and better camera.
There are 2 reasons to stay with the 820 as well. Smaller screen/phone and expandable storage

I buy too many phones That and at work, my phone is my gaming device so I have 14 gigs worth of games on my phone.

I really don't see any storage problems, Infact my phone has 3.1GB of storage free after installing apps, emails and things (no games), but I feel very uncomfortable if that 3.1 drops to 3, thats just me. I've seen people cruising with 100MB free space.

Also, that 5GB is good for installing apps, for music and videos and also pics you can store them on your sd card.

But trust me pal, if you opt for 820 you'll end up cursing its battery life, its extremely weak, for 920 its even weaker for its hardware.

just get a 920, 925, or 928 and call it a day dude. 8 series isn't worth it.

I'd suggest 925/928, the 920 packs excellent hardware but is a world heavyweight champion and doesn't have the required battery to pull through the day if you load some background apps.

925 and 928 has the exact same spec internals and battery as the 920.
also, some people like the weight and consider their devices solid. me included. I just can't with how light iphone5 and galaxys4 are.

928 is a cdma plus gsm phone (world phone, primarily catered towards Verizon users. Like 822, am not sure it'll have sms troubles for gsm users?) and has 32 Gigs afaik with a xenon flash, however 925 has a better camera (night shots) but s*cks with 16GB onboard memory.
The main difference apart from specs is the materials used, it comes down to personal preference.

P.S. - I like my phones to be light, doesn't feel like you're carrying a brick in your pocket

I'd get 920 if I had money for it. I'm going to buy "second hand" 820.
