Is the print function available on mobile or not there?

A recent post got me checking my phone and I couldn't find a way to print something from my phone. From past experience, I know it was there but can't seem to find a way to do it

Is there some process of setting it up or something else? Tried printing from photos app, file explorer and word - but nothing showed up on how to print. Tried via share function as well as edit

Any ideas?

I can't ever recall having native printing on Windows Phone. One would think, given Microsoft's focus on enterprise, printing would be a feature, but no.

I've used the Print Hand app on occasion, which worked reasonably well.

I believe part of the issue is that most of the printers are not supported by Windows 10 Mobile to print. Most is probably reaching but I'm guessing that there isn't a high number of printers that work.

Just tested it.
It looked promising, and then the print function crashed.. Reboot was needed to get it to look promising again.. but nope, crashed again..

So print is still there, does it work, no.
On lumia 1020 latest build: 10.0.10586.545

I think that's where I saw it, in threshold builds :smile:

You will need a compatible printer with the appropriate app to print through wifi or bluetooth. You cannot install printer drivers on the phone.

I have been printing from my mobile without any app ever since W10M came out. Works flawlessly with my HP wireless printer and before that it worked well with my Canon, too. Not all apps support printing, though (The photos app does, too). I am on the latest Release preview ring, by the way.

There are no drivers required to use printers on W10M. It uses the direct WiFi printing standard. Here's the supported list.
