just read this morning on zdnet that current windows phone 8 devices will get windows phone blue which is the next major update to windows phone

Blue was always going to be RTMed for 8.0 devices at the very least. The bigger questions will be how the rollout will be handled (GDR1 was a complete mess ? why did select models in the US get it a full quarter before the rest of the world?), and whether WP9 will be available.

Lasting support and timely updates are two ways Windows Phone can beat Android. So far, it doesn't seem Microsoft has tried very hard at either.

Blue is why I considered WP to begin with. Can't wait.
