(Larger) Maps downloads speeds experienced?

Has anyone downloaded all the USA, or all of Canada? Do you have any time/perf data from when you did it?

I've been trying now for almost 7 hours, to just download the US maps (Canada is still queued) after a hard-reset yesterday, which made windows (.456) decide the maps on my SD card were no longer valid.
It's taken those 7 hours, to download about half of the 1.3GB USA maps, so maybe it's downloaded .7GB, being generous. I figure it's going to take about 1-1.5 days to download both sets, give or take a little.

When I test my WiFi speeds, I easily get 90-95mbps (I have 100/100 fiber) down and about the same up.
My PC is on the same connection (hardwired, but almost exactly the same numbers up/down), and I downloaded the entire PC set of USA maps, in 30 minutes, ON THE SAME CONNECTION (pipe), which were a bit over 4GB.

Has anyone seen similar issues, or have any tips/tricks for this? I want to use them, later tomorrow, and won't have a WiFi connection at that point, and certainly am not going to download over 4G/LTE.

Why in the world (no pun) is it taking so darn long to download even the 1.3, not even counting the 1.2 of Canada, when my PC managed to pull 4 in the same time, same connection, without a struggle?

Yeah, I piggy-backed on that other maps discussion, but figured maybe I should start my own here, since it's starting to differ quite a bit...

check this thread - some excellent ideas there: http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-10-mobile-insider-preview/422430-fix-unable-download-maps.html

Thanks. I'm trying to do it without removing my case (and SD card) if possible. I'm having a heck of a time locating the folder on the SD card though, it's very cleverly hidden when browsing via Win10 File Explorer, and difficult to do via cmd line window. I need to figure out how to virtualize the SD card, and then I could use the console cmd prompt, maybe...
Still trying to download, US finally finished, sometime overnight, and Canada is maybe 5% done, and seems to be stalled there.

Solved it!
I was having a heck of a time (somehow my US maps had finished, but it seemed like Canada just kept resetting itself, everytime I checked download status).

The trick is, download smaller chunks of states/provinces/whatever-unit, until you have a good portion (I had at least 60% or so of Canada) of the entire region, and THEN go back and download the region.
The states/provinces only take a few minutes each, as expected, and after you reach some threshold, the region finalizes quickly, mine took <30 minutes.

So, ultimately, BIG bug in the download algorithm here, for large files, but works if you just subdivide things, and then grab the whole deal (it even does the right thing, and removes all the provinces and rolls them up into the region, nice).

Sure, some people will just download their state/province/whatever, and a couple around it, but others, like me, with a large SD card, just figure "heck, I'll just get the whole deal, and not worry about it next year when I'm traveling in backwoods wherever, and have no service".

additionally, there would be updates for maps now and then so keep checking for the map updates in addition to app updates

Yeah, I'm NOT in a big hurry to check for these, after my experience just getting the bulk of maps downloaded ;-]
I turned off automatic updates for maps, for awhile, and set myself a reminder to try again, about 4 weeks out...

Yeah, thanks, I'm sure this would've worked for me too. I was trying to do it without taking off my case (I have one of those snap-together, a few times, maybe) and the whole works.
Not to mention, it was really bugging me that it was going to take days to do something that should've maybe taken 30 minutes, on the very outside.

For those moving forward, I'm sure the "remove the SD card" option will work, and my "install about 50-60% of the maps individually (check-boxes), then the entire region" works as well.
It's good that we've got two options here, both solve the problem, relatively expediently.

What should *really* happen is that the app gets fixed (I reported it, there were a LOT of others that had too).
