List here what you DO NOT like on 8.1.

I was a big fan also. Was something I used quite a lot. I think we'll have to wait and see once apps are updated/released if anything changes or it remains as crippled as it is now.
why ? Didn't you get fb integration after installing the store version of the fb app ? People have got it, and you are supposed to get it too. I know the messenger thing, but you cant do anything about that, it was messing up the notifications and ms had to remove it. Though i would've liked it if they had allowed WhatsApp, viber, fbmessenger and Skype to integrate into the messaging hub. That's would've been AWESOME !!

I can turn on Wi-Fi via quick settings but can't turn off there. For turning off it just opens the standard Wi-Fi setting app. Why is that?
Also, I'm irritated on how to quickly mute the phone. Hitting the volume button now doesn't offer to mute or unmute just by one touch. I'm missing that!

That's a consequence of the split volume controls. two more troops required? #firstworldproblems

You can't turn off Wi-Fi because the quick setting option is a bit smart, rather than dumb buttons in Android, it shows status of Wi-Fi as well, for example the brightness control that toggles between all available options, if u turn on Wi-Fi 📶 and a network is available you can tap open Wi-Fi setting directly to connect to a unsaved network, instead of going to setting and then heading to Wi-Fi
Basically it's a trade off, u save a click here you have to click one more time there

Actually, three clicks is too much. In some meetings, for example, I am uncomfortable in getting the phone out and messing around with it if I've left the ringer off. The more clicks required, the more I have to mess around with it. (To compare, what I like with the iPhone is that silencing it can be done without even taking it out of your pocket).

I'll grant that. But in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal

Please stop it, your fanboyism is just too damn high. It is not smart at all. Android actually has it a lot smarter- one click - turning wifi on and off, and when you hold a finger on wifi it will bring you to wifi settings.

So can WP with quiet hours, If the meeting is marked as busy in your calendar and you have the required settings on. (But I do agree that the toggle on iPhones is pretty handy)

I don't have quiet hours, as it is limited to the US ...

This will never happen, for a reason. The same reason why Facebook forced MS to remove themselves from the hub and why many apps will prefer not to use the extensible hubs.

Facebook doesn't want THEIR user data going through an API and system controlled by MS, a closed-source one at that. Furthermore, if you were able to see your friends' updates in the Contacts hub and never open the FB app, how will they show you ads, i.e how will FB make money? Similarly, Whatsapp et al will not want their stuff going through an MS system.

THIS is the real reason behind all the de-linkifying that's been happening. I feel it in my bones.

Weird. My games are not showing up in the game hub. Only in app list. It says "Couldn't open that. Try again." under Collection. Anybody with the same problem?

I have one game and it shows up there, in games hub + apps list
Btw it's updated

I may have encountered what I hope is a bug. When you have headphones plugged in, ringtones and notification sounds will come out of the phone's external speaker, rather than through the headphones. There is an option to turn off the ringer when headphones are plugged in, and that does turn off notification sounds, but I'd much rather have the sounds come through the headphones.

This removal of integration with Facebook is pissing me off more by the minute.

I didn't know but it turns out the Facebook app doesn't send a notification when someone likes my posts. GREAT!! tsk, tsk, tsk. (NOT GREAT, just in case :P).

To this point I don't know if it will send me a notification if any of my "close friends" in Facebook posts something because none of them have posted anything yet.

Already unpinned the me tile. Completely useless for me now.

Still smoked by WP7 and WP8.

you -might- be able to fix that on your Facebook settings on the web. Bottom line is you should have to.

Why Microsoft.....why.

I've reached the end of my rope today. I just connected my phone to a Windows PC to find that a few albums were erased. In their place is a text file named after the album, but with no songs.

Done. Sick of this.

I just broke down and moved my Me tile to the bottom of the screen and put Facebook in its former place.

Sigh. I so hate the Facebook app. Just niggly little first-world things, but is there some reason why, when you click/open a posting, you have to click again to see the replies? I much preferred the old Me Tile way of showing me the post and replies in one screen.

It won't...I don't get any notifications about my close friends posting or any likes on my post. I only get notifications when someone replies and that comes through the FB app. I am completely missing seeing the history of likes, friends' post, twitter replies and retweets in the Me tile, which is pretty much useless now. I've also sorely been missing the "Recent People" piece of the People hub.

NOT HAPPY, in case anyone was wondering.

They revamped the call history as requested in uservoice portal. Now you can find call durations if you long-press a record and see details.
BUT they removed that little round call button. Now when you shortly press a record, the default action is to start a phone call. So, if you accidentally press a record while scrolling your call history, you'll call that person immediately. I accidentally called my boss in a late evening. That's embarrassing. Microsoft, please, bring that call button back and remove call action when I just tap a history record. Why do you have to break something to improve something else?
