List here what you DO NOT like on 8.1.

I'm getting really annoyed with this developer preview. Like none of my apps are working in the background. Not getting any facebook notifications (action center or live tile). Weather tile(s) aren't updating either. I have them allowed in the battery saver and everything but nothing. 'bout to reset this freakin' thing. I've noticed a significant battery drain too (1020/at&t) since I updated.

I had the same problem. If you uninstall and reinstall the official FB app (not the beta), give it permission, and set it to give toast notifications it will start working eventually. It took a day or so for mine to start showing up, just as it takes a while to populate the people hub with FB contacts. MS has stated that an update is coming to the FB app, so that should help also. But in the meantime, that should get you going. I suspect we are going to see a ton of app updates in the coming weeks to accommodate the new OS.

Actually, three clicks is too much. In some meetings, for example, I am uncomfortable in getting the phone out and messing around with it if I've left the ringer off. The more clicks required, the more I have to mess around with it. (To compare, what I like with the iPhone is that silencing it can be done without even taking it out of your pocket).

You could just scroll down on the action center and hit the quiet hours button and be done with it. Or, set your quiet hours feature so that it goes into effect whenever you have a meeting on your calendar. Works pretty well for me.

I don't have quiet hours, as it is limited to the US ...

Since it is a developer update, that is not terribly surprising, though I am sure it is frustrating for you. I imagine with the official release, you will have Cortana and be able to use that feature.

Hate games in apps list

Sensitivity to vocal responses to the "Call Reply Ignore" speech option when reading out messages appears to be poor. eg With 8.0 I could say ignore from across the room and it would perform correctly, now it is very hit and miss. Also when ignore is used and it recognises it they have removed the distinctive sound that indicated the correct action had been carried out

anyone notice that you can't view contacts through the phone app/tile, you can only call them from it? so to edit contact i now have to use the people tile ergh

Umm...yes you can. Just hit the little contact button to the right of the person's name in the history list or hit the phonebook at the bottom of the screen after you open the dialer tile.
They just swapped the functioning of what happens when you tap the person's name and the little round phone button that used to be on the left of the screen. Before, you tap the little round phone button, it dialed the person back immediately; now you tap the round contact button on the right of the screen. Tapping the person's name used to go to their contact info; now it immediately dials them back.

Touching the phone book under PHONE will take you to the CALL A CONTACT page. So the only way to edit contact is thru the PEOPLE link or HISTORY link.

Why its possible to pull down the action center from the lock screen even if i have a password ? It doesn't make sense .. It's a bug??

Hehe, I find this somewhat funny... My Surface Pro 2 is having better battery life than my L920.

Came to a restaurant with both charged 100% about two and a half hours ago.

Surface: 76% left.
L920: 68% left.

Mind you, I have been using the Surface the whole time while the phone has been used sporadically.

I will give the phone that I have been using it as a hotspot. So maybe not so bad? (I really have no point of reference when using the phone as a hotspot because I don't do it much).

Tap the icon to the immediate right of whomever is in your recent call list and their profile will come up allowing you to edit as you like.

As noted above by someone else, it seems they switched things around, but the functionality is the same. Previously, if you tapped someone's name in your phone log, it brought up their contact info but did not call them. For that you had to tap the little phone icon to the right. Now, if you tap their name it will call them back automatically, but you can still access their profile by tapping the icon to the right.

I have made a few mistakes since it came out, but I actually like this particular change.

Don't know if this was mentioned before, but here it goes: I like the fact that you can search for things on your phone like mails, music, contacts etc., but I don't like the fact that they didn't include Office documents, PDFs, OneDrive files.

So I've had enough time with the Update to be able to voice my opinion on it. For the most part I'm thoroughly pleased with it so far.

Action Center:
I have no real problems with the Action center aside from not having Battery Saver pinable to it. Aside from that I just need to get used to using it. Whatsapp shows notification from the last one sent forward, which is odd cause you have to read the messages backwards sometimes to understand. Its not a big deal but if I'm just reading it through the Center with no intention to respond it gets a little confusing.

Cortana:
Again, I have no major issues with it. I'd like the ability to edit the reminder sounds per Reminder, but that's not a big deal. I'd also like to see more from the entire thing(being able to do more than one task at a time, using the voice comms without touching the phone, etc.), which will come in time. The only real issues I have is just bugs. She'll sometimes not hear me if I don't speak loud enough, and the system itself is a tad slow for doing just normal searches. This is stuff that'll be fixed with it comes out of Beta, and with other updates on the server side. Like the ability to set reminders for when I connect to a certain wifi network(instead of using a location).

General:
I don't hate the charging sound, but I do want to change it. It sounds just like when you turned on Tell Me in 8, and that bugs the crap out of me.

Notifications in general bother me to an extent, but this isn't really an 8.1 problem. For instance, I receive two emails. I open my email, read one, and return to my home screen. I'd like for my Email tile to still have a 1 by it since I didn't read the second one. I do this often with work emails. I'll get a BS email that I'll read and delete, then a work email that I want to save for when I get back to my computer cause its usually some kind of request to fix something or do a quick change up. The same thing goes for the Action Center, I'd like for the Action center to still show the notification at the top till I clear all notifications(I get a breaking news story that I don't feel like reading right this second, then forget about it).

I'd like the ability to turn off the Swipe keyboard or tweak the way it gets triggered. I've been doing a lot of mistypes cause it triggers on while I'm typing. Causing me to say stuff like "Look" instead of "lol"

All in all, there's nothing big about the update that I looked at and said "Well that sucks..." I'm pretty pleased about it, and am excited to see where it goes.

Is anybody else also experiencing lags and stutters? Does it get fixed if I do a hard reset?

Has anyone said single select emoji? Used to be able to click as many as i want before sending message

Oh I know. I miss being able to do that. And having the most used emotes section. =(

EDIT: Nvm, I see the most used emotes now. It's under the heart icon.

Yeah we mentioned it a few pages back.

I used to have emoticon "wars" with my girlfriend but not anymore.

I do like the keyboard suggesting emoticons after some words.

I have a Lumia 521 with the Dev. Preview. When I hit the volume rocker, while playing music, I get to see which song I'm on. Then when I hit the forward button, to switch to the next song, it lags, and I never get to see what the next song is. Windows Phone 8 didn't have such a lag, and I could switch the songs almost instantly. Small Gripe.
