List here what you DO NOT like on 8.1.

By removing the Music Hub, Windows Phone lost the 'Now Playing' functionality.

Try this:
Launch a streaming app, say Mix Radio or Songza. Now, wait until the screen times out, the screen blinks off, but the music continues playing.
Now, unlock your phone, and go to the start screen-------can anyone tell which app is actually playing the current music?

Nope. That's gone. You have the split second of the song title and artist as soon as you unlock the phone, dropping in from the top, before it goes away, and that's it.

So, the notification/Action Center, really, really, REALLY needs a Now Playing action item, for media, just like in the Android notification center, that's granually controllable.

No question....Games, Xbox Live....The new app is a freaking joke, it's like MS is not taking Xbox Seriously. All games everywhere ? Give us the option...

One MAJOR thing I EXPECTED with 8.1 is for Windows Phone to show Xbox one achievements...Gee wiz instead of going forward, it's a big step backwards....Crap the version that came with the very first version of Windows Phone 7 is better than the POS that is in 8.1

Don't get me started on Microsoft screwing up Xbox live on Windows Phone....Ya, know...#SaveXboxWP and all that stuff...

Apps don't resume where they left off after switching to other apps. Even the mighty WPCentral app doesn't.

This feels pre iPhone era!

slow slow slow i think now wp is no diffrence than android and honestly i started thinking about buying an s4 o htc one

Just wondering if you've tried a hard reset yet without a restore. It's worked for me and many others on this forum. Sure would give that a go before going to something as drastic as android.

I've always considered 8.1 to be a step backwards in terms of general usability of the core OS features.

Coming from a long time Windows Phone 7 user, Windows Phone has always been known to offer a smooth and fast performance with elegant integrations. Everything loads up instantly.

Now with 8.1, we see splash screens all the time (Calendar, Music, Video, Games) Even with the built-in Xbox Music app, scrolling stutters, animation lags, and the iconic live tiles are gone too.

The Games hub and Me tile used to be functional and very useful. In fact, it was one of the core OS features that WP users brag about to our Android and iOS friends. Our games are not cluttered in the app list like Android. We have an elegant Pictures hub with panorama background images, and 8.1 have reduced it to a plain, amateur-ish photo app.

I wouldn't say I hate 8.1. It's more of a disappointment to me.

Cortana is pretty much a gimmick.

Notification center is actually useful if I can turn off Wi-Fi without being directed to the settings screen, and if it has the option to turn off data too.

3 columns of live tiles and background picture is nice.

And having a file manager is awesome too.

I get these noises while I'm on a call. Game alerts, texts, emails all chiming in my ear while I'm talking. So annoying. All alerts should be in an auto quiet/silent mode when on a call. I don't recall any other phone I've ever had that was annoying in this regard. Is there a simple solution to fix I'm missing?

^^^This! I hated the notifications while on a call and the worst part is that some ppl said they heard it too. I thought this would be eliminated on wp8.1... is it still there?

I did originally but its to allow the notifications/action centre from the top. To be honest, I now use the notifications section so much that I have forgotten about this and would now not swap back, though I really hated it at first....

Yes, you can still see them. But, if you want to comment, like, view comments, view photos etc. it now has to open through an app rather than the old integrated experience.

On 8.1 with Cyan and FB app installed, the People Hub still shows the newsflow and you touch the comment and it allows you to like, comment etc. No need to open via app.

Honestly the only things I can think of currently are the removal of the photo hub and games hub. Really short sighted by Microsoft. These weren't a consistent problem like the music hub was. So I think it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction by the Windows Phone brass.

Edit - Forgot to mention I hate that videos on most sites now auto play, including advertisements. Never had that annoying problem before!
