lumia 640 corruption problem?

I've had my Lumia for about four months now and it seems about every week my phone freezes up, and when I restart it; it says that my sd card is corrupted. I brought it back to the store and they said that it may have to do with my sd card. I've changed it three times already and I wonder if anyone else had this problem. If so how did you fix it?

Try using SD Formatter (free for Mac and Windows) to reformat your cards. My bet is they'll be useable afterwards. What brand are they and are you sure they're the real deal?

Re: lumia 640 corruption problem?

We had that problem with a 521. After trying a few fixes, I gave up and just used the phone without an SD card. Not an ideal solution, but it worked great.

When we got two 640s, one of them did the same thing, so I run them without cards too.

I've had my phone for over 6 months now. It never freezes. I have kept it on for even a month or so without even restarting it. After one of these long "uptimes" I restarted my phone and then I saw this notorious message of SD card being corrupted and if you want the phone to fix it. That time I skipped the fixing. When I restarted the phone next time, there was this corruption message again, and now I answered 'Yes'. The phone restarted and fixed the SD. After rebooting again the corruption message was gone. My SD has been corrupted only once so far.

I googled this problem and it seems to be quite common with Lumia phones.

By the way, I use Samsung microSDHC UHS-I 48 MB/s card.

I ended up getting the Samsung microSDHC UHS-I 48 MB/s card. So far I have had no problems with it. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: lumia 640 corruption problem?

I had the SD card issue (i have a nice SD card) and the scan never finished any time, and formatting the SD card only worked as long as it stayed blank. The latest time I set the phone to store apps on the phone instead (everything else on the SD card as normal) and no problem since.
