Lumia 640 running W10 not recognized by PC via USB?

Just a heads up, this isn't a driver or an OS issue, it's a USB cable issue. Not all USB cables allow data transfer, some are charge only. I was having issues with Windows 10 not finding my phone, switched to a "thicker" USB cable and it was instantly found by my computer.

I realize this is an old thread, but thought I would add this bit of information.

Dude... after days of trying every update and combo of other things I could think off you saved my life lol one switch of the cord of my PHD the recovery tool worked in an instant! TY TY TY hope everyone else sees this!!
