Lumia 800 not switching on. Dead?

I have had my Lumia 800 for a little less than a year and 6 months without any major problems besides the typical battery issues. Few days ago, I restarted my mobile (long pressing the hold/lock button till the goodbye message appears) only to never switch on again. I tried every possible key combinations, tried charging through the power outlet & the PC yet the phone wouldn't switch on. It seems there is an inherent flaw in the Lumia 800 hardware as many have complained of bricking. Please help.
