Lumia 830 on T-Mobile

Man that sucks for I really wanted to upgrade my 521 and I don't really want to pay more for the HTC M8. I just don't need all the extra bells and whistles for the higher price. Even if and when they do finally introduce the 830, my decision to purchase will all depend on the price they offer. If they're talkin $400 plus like ATT version, then I won't buy it. I strongly believe it's overpriced. Now if they offer it would a free Microsoft Band......?

For me the process of getting a Lumia 830 on T-Mobile was actually straight forward. I went on eBay and searched for a reputable seller who had AT&T branded Lumia 830 devices. I found a couple that had the device for close to $360 and I purchased one.

Two days later, the 830 arrived and I called AT&T to request an unlock. The phone was bought off-contract, so AT&T requires proof of purchase (i.e. you need to email them your eBay/paypal receipt) and once they have that they will unlock the device. You can then BYOD over to T-Mobile!

Were you able to get the unlock code from ATT? Also, has anyone been able to confirm if the ATT version will support LTE on T-mobile?

So can anyone confirm the AT&T 830 working on T-Mobile, or did this guy just come to promote one he may be selling on eBay? If true, getting one with a free fitbit is not a bad deal.

I have the rm-895 prototype version and I'm having problems with it and from what I've seen here so far, the AT&T version doesn't appear to have as many complaints.

The international version, if you're referring to the RM-984, will not get LTE on T-Mobile. The AT&T version will (or should) get LTE on T-Mobile. If you can get the AT&T version unlocked that should work well for you.

Care to elaborate about your problems with the Prototype?

Is the AT&T model rm985 or rm984 or some other one? Also, the problems I have are mentioned through various threads of the forum but I'll list them quickly, I don't wanna hijack the T-Mobile thread. My 830 randomly restarts, shows I have a text after every restart, bluetooth quits working, wifi quits working, it takes long to shut down, and long to turn on.

The AT&T model is RM-983

I have the RM-985 prototype device running the official Rogers 830 firmware and I have no issues as mentioned by you. Either way, you're not hijacking the thread since buying a RM-985 (prototype or production) is the best variant to use on T-Mobile

Is your service rogers? I'm running the unbranded firmware. Maybe it's the firmware?

I've got the RM-985 and it works like a champ on T-Mobile. My lady has it working on simple mobile as well. 380 was well worth it. It's definitely an upgrade from the 925.
Yep. Working very well on T-mobile with LTE speeds where I am. I got the RM-985 from B&H Photo.

Thanks. I might just sell the protoype and get one from B&H... By any chance, do any of you with the rm-985 have the Microsoft Band paired with it? I suspect it may be part of some of the problems but not sure yet. I'm gonna try flashing the Rogers version in the meantime.

It does not have the Microsoft Band paired with it. I returned the one I got from B&H because it was rebooting itself randomly once a day. Using my RM-984 in the meantime. I hope to receive my new (exchange) RM-985 from them this week.

Does anyone know what the difference between the RM-983 and RM-985 is? Do they support the same LTE bands? Really wished that T-Mobile would carry this phone.

Basically, the 983 and 985 have the same band support. The 983 adds carrier agregation and PMA charging.

Thanks for the link! Is carrier aggregation important on T-Mobile? If not, seems like B&H Photo is the only place that sells an unbranded RM-985 otherwise, it sounds like it's pretty difficult to get AT&T or one of the Canadian carriers to unlock their phone, right?
