Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Just curious to know is Note 2 in 3G mobile network and Lumia 920 in 4G mobile network ? ... setting Lumia 920 maximum speed as 3G in mobile network, can make a big difference for your battery ....

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

battery drain fast I think it's because the data 4g always on, even when it's not in use. I play around for two weeks with red 920 without service, only running wifi, battery is very good. Since I put straighttalk sim and use it as 4g and wifi turn off, battery is drain very fast. But when I turn wifi on, battery running okey. why don't you try it and let see

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Last night I had my phone on the wireless charger well after it reached 100%. I brought it with me to check occasional emails while I watched tv. went to bed and watched 2 full episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix and didn't open anything else. Battery was down to 77%. That is totally fine for me, seeing as I just streamed over 1 1/2 hours of video. After finishing with netflix, I always "close" it (press back until you are at the home screen). I went to sleep after that.

Woke up this morning and the battery was at 76%. Drained only 1% over the course of about 7 hours. Here is a screen to show battery meter. However, after opening up the weather channel app, email, and text messages, I noticed my battery drop 3% in just a few minutes.

Now, do I believe my battery is any different than anyone elses? Nope. Not in the least. Other nights, I have done the EXACT same thing and woke up to find the critical battery warning on my phone. I truly believe that there is a bug in Phone 8 that although the background task appears to have been closed, something is still running, and therefore is draining the battery.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Hello everyone! As an addition to my last post, I want to tell you that today I've had the Locations service on for the whole day, it's been 9 hours since I took the phone off the charger, and the battery level is down to 91%, so it's been going at 1% and hour rate. That's pretty cool with me.

I've done 10 sms, 30 minutes of calls, and around 15 minutes of surfing the internet.

Bluetooth, wifi, nfc off, I only use them when I need them.

To me it seems the battery truly needs "breaking in", it takes time for it to become fully functional.
Although some people are complaining about their problems after weeks of use, they truly seem to have faulty batteries/problems with WP8 software.

To me the phone is now more than good!

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Here are my Lessons Learned for the battery:

Do's:
  • Allow the battery to drain all the way a few times and then charge it all the way as well
  • Block the apps for using background tasks under Settings > Applications > Background Tasks ( All I have allowed is Facebook and iHeartRadio)
  • Change your Mail Sync settings to 30 mins, instead of 'as the item arrives'
  • Set Screen timeout to 30 seconds rather than a minute

Don't:
  • Donot use the battery level app, it was a constant drain in itself
  • Make sure you use the back arrow button to close the apps like Netflix, other streaming apps and Nokia Drive

How is it that some people are showing things like 1 day and 5 hours left (with 10 hours since last charge) in their battery level screenshots? I've done all the recommended things (except a hard reset), have had my Lumia 920 for nearly 3 weeks, and still never see more than 17 hours left on a full charge.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

So I received my Lumia 920 (cyan) today, gave it a full charge. Now it has been 1 hour since my last charge and I only have 5 hours estimated left. I've already dropped to 77% is this normal? All I've been doing is listening to music and texting, no phone calls. And a couple rounds of angry birds.......anyone else having the same battery drain?

I found this to be a possible resolution to the battery issue.
Day 1 installed apps - battery life excellent
Day 2 started using apps - battery life excellent
Day 3 Activated Skype - battery life dropped significantly
Day 4 Removed Skype and restarted phone - battery life excellent again.

Realization: Skype is always on and will drain the battery with it's "always running in the background" state will keep the internet connection open also and drain the battery.

Settings -> Mobile network -> Maximum speed

No such option for "Mobile network" on my Lumia 920 (AT&T). There's a "Network+" option in Settings, but it doesn't have a Maximum speed option.

Where is this Maximum Speed setting?

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

This thread is a rollercoaster ride in itself. If I can deduce anything, it's that the phone is more than capable of producing excellent battery life. Whether it be usage issues or (more likely) software flaws causing battery drain, I feel confident that this is something that can be solved through an update.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

I have found that my battery life has dramatically increased with two things:

1. Uninstall the battery level app
2. Never, and I mean never, go to settings -> battery saver and look at "estimated time remaining"

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Well, as I talked about earlier in this thread about my problems
[ my post http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/201672-20.htm#post1770762 ]

I returned my 920 to AT&T as I was nearing the 14 day return limit and ordered a cyan one ( my 900 was cyan so many of my fans (family) commented about missing the cyan one so...)

Just did a restore using my MS Account and there's no doubt that there is a difference in my unscientific battery test ( [1 work day] off charger at 8a, sitting on my desk, checking twitter updates ) there is a noticeable difference as I am still reading 100% charge 3hrs later!

My black 920 battery life was never this good...
  • even after multiple reboots
  • battery drainage...power on...drain remaining power
  • disabling features on the phone so that it was nothing more than a dumb phone

My anecdotal evidence is that just maybe its a battery hardware issue, where some batches are good...some are bad.

I do hope that AT&T doesn't try to resell my returned phone as a brand new "NOKIA Lumia 920 4G LTE w/HSPA XYZ ABC" to some unsuspecting user as it could our them on the Nokia/WP8 experiences

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

I unplugged my phone from the charger about 7:15 this morning. It is now 10:00 and with no use other than checking the live tiles for email, it's down to about 65% left. I have all background tasks (other than weather) disabled. I'm thinking I'm going to have to exchange this phone for a 3rd one.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

So, I did a clean restore of everything two days ago, charged my phone to full before bed, and took it off the charger. The graph below is a pretty good representation of about 21 hours off the charger, with maybe 9 hours of idle time. I thought it was pretty good, though there are a couple interesting things to note. First, you can see a part where the battery goes up. I DID NOT charge at any point here. This is where I rebooted (it was actually an accident I was clasping the phone in my hand and long pressed the button and swiped just right, LOL!). I have seen this happen a lot; a reboot actually shows you have more battery than you thought you did. Another thing I found quite interesting is the rathe of decline of the battery. During the last two hours of the graph I was at the gym doing nothing but streaming Nokia Music over wifi to headphones. There were no texts, no calls, and no emails during this time (it was late in the evening). The only possible thing to update would be the weather app, and of course the battery app itself. As you can see, the rate it declined wasn't exactly steady, though I guess it would fall within acceptable error.

For those interested, my usage consisted of about 150 SMS back and forth, 50 emails, roughly 3 hours of wifi nokia music streaming, 2 hours of phone calls with about 45 minutes of that being on speakerphone, maybe four hours of internet browsing, checking and reading news articles, use of xvmc remote, etc. I think that is a pretty decent battery life (before I wasn't getting through the day), but would like to suggest that software calibaration be the issue. I simply don't think the software really knows when the battery is full or when the battery is dead. I would say we are getting liberal estimates of when the battery is full (and then it stops charging), thus reducing your overall battery life.

Re: lumia 920 Battery Issues

Been on the phone to Phones4U 3 days in a row, and they have now told me never to expect a day of battery out of my phone as "he uses an android phone and doesn't expect it, so you shouldn't expect it".

Going to continue pursuing this and try and get a replacement as I am not happy that by lunch I have used 50% battery without using the bloody phone.

In my experience with smartphones, i wasn't really into the whole drain battery and recharge to 100% thing that everybody has been saying for all these years, i always charged at night no matter the % before i go to bed. Im no expert, but just going on what i've been doing through multiple phones.

Out of the iphone, 3gs, iphone 4, samsung focus s, lumia 900, sgs3, and now the 920, only the 920 did not make it all day the very next day with full charge.

Now i did get a replacement and my replacement 920 did make it for the full day the very next day with full charge, rather easily as my original would die in the afternoon. So my original was clearly defective.

turn phone off. connect it to charger (phone turns on) and let it charge overnight. Wake up to 100% and I almost always see 17 hours left. Take it off charger, check email quickly, place phone on counter. come back in an hour and see that the time remaining shows 1 or 2 or sometimes 3 days remaining...
