I just want to say Marry Christmas to everybody. Go enjoy family and friends don't worry about the forum it can wait till after the holiday.
....My son got me a dehydrator. So I'm about learn how to make beef jerky and go nuts with that for a while. Trying to come up with some good flavor combos. And of course some heat.
Dried meats are real popular in France and they are much better for you than the processed meats we have here with all the chemical preservatives. The very first time I was in France I ordered a meat lovers breakfast. I knew enough French to tell it came with beef, ham and sausage. When I got the breakfast, it looked liked I had three different types of jerky on my plate, but they were absolutely delicious. I've really learned to love dried meats.
Are meats cooked in a smoker considered dry meats? Or just smoked meat? I bought a smoker last year after watching too many episodes of BBQ Pitmasters. I've got my brisket down pretty good now. Same with the ribs. Did one smoked chicken that turned out good. My next one that I've been wanting to do for a while is a pork ****/shoulder for pulled pork.
Okay so my wife tried to make a barbecue roast beef in the crockpot yesterday. It was bad, real bad, I couldn't even eat it. She usually is real good at making food but something went wrong on this one. The good news is it was just us eating nobody else was here. WOW it was bad.
She did make us a pecan pie, and cookies. Those were real good.
No I think she was supposed to cook the meat before she put it in the crock pot. She put the meat in raw with the BBQ sauce.
