Micro SD - Does it work right now?

Anyone heard if the Micro SD card works right with Surface 2 now? Currently, on Surface RT, you can't read files from the SD card in the native apps like photos and music, at least not without hacking the system and tricking it into reading the card.

When Surface first came out last October/November I ran into this problem and went to the Bellevue, WA store to ask someone about this issue. That "someone" turned out to be Panos who had stopped in the store to see how things were going. He claimed a fix was coming but to my knowledge nothing was ever done about it. I figured if anyone he would be the one to know.

Anyway, would like to have this fixed, silly to have it out there to begin with.

It's also fixed in 8.0 with all of the fixes applied. I know that I was able to access photos, music, and videos from my SD card under 8.0 without any hacks necessary.

Sorry, I don't have any links. I bought an RT 2 weeks ago and spent the first 5 hours of ownership letting all 78 updates install. When it had finished, I was able to access music, photos, and videos that I had on my 32GB microSD card. I never knew that the Metro apps were unable to access media from the sd card.

It's not just a matter of whether they can be accessed but whether they can be added to the library. We know it's possible in 8.1 but I haven't heard any announcements about it being possible in standard Windows RT.

Ok, but that (adding to the library) is different than what bluetrout was asking (simply reading files from the sd card) and what I was responding to.

I have no link, but I do own a Surface RT and I know for a face I can access my SD card from within apps. I've got my movies and music on the card, you see and I can defintiely access them from within Windows 8 apps. It shows up in the file picker just as it should.
