My friends Nexus 5 shoots way better photos than my lumia 920.

Here I agree with you. And everything you said before is just about it. High ISO.

But we love to complain! That's our favorite job.

At first, Lumia had a tendency to have blurryphotos at low light because exposure time was too high and ISO too low (for good quality and less noise).

Nokia fix it.

Now people are complain about bad colors, less sharpness, low contrast levels and other things. Well, that's exactly what people was asking for!!! To fix blurry photos, we need different exposure times, less light in sensor and, of course, high ISO to compensate.

Still that, Lumia 920 is better than Nexus 5. Have IOS, a MUCH BETTER camera app and very good low light performance. With flash ON at nigh, Nexus 5 is just ridiculous if you compare with 920. At day, 920 is just a regular cameraphone. Even Iphone 4s or Galaxy S3 are good. At night only the bests survives, like Lumia 920.

+100000
true that!!

So can anyone compare the 920 with original firmware with the Nexus 5? I expect most people have Amber or Black now which Nokia ruined the camera software so the only fair comparison is to use a 920 which has not been updated to Amber or Black. Rare as hens teeth now, surely?

Man, I wish Nokia/MS would add a basic HDR built into the camera App. Just something to help with over/under exposures, like Android & iOS.

The 3rd party Apps are terrible, sadly.
nokia camera allows bracketing, it may help if you have a little photoshop knowledge.

So i have heard this age old argument time and time again about the photos being all messed up yellow tints here and there. I can safely say i have never experienced any of this on my L920 i am running windows 8+Black heck i even had to have my lumia replaced recently and i still don't see any problems like so many are reporting! My camera still takes excellent photos and all my friends are jealous when i show them the capabilities of my phone. Is it possible people have too high an expectation for phone camera photos?

The problem is the Portico was better.
Nobody likes to have something better and be relegated.
Just a question. Do you tested Portico?

despite not being as good as it was during portico,i can confirm that my 720 and 820 running 8.1DP take much better shots than my nexus 5 ,my z10 also takes better shots than my nexus 5(all phones on latest available firmwares etc)

I don't know about you guys, but the latest Nokia Camera (with the latest 8.1 preview) seems to have completely broken the infinity focus. Nothing looks sharp, and it appears like the photos coming out from the toy camera app.

They won't be its clearly stated in "Cyan upcoming on WPC" New algorithms are coming for L930/Icon/L1520, while other will get some tweaks with "low light photos".
