My friends Nexus 5 shoots way better photos than my lumia 920.

Lol I meant shoots! Hahaha no way to fix the title now!

Haha. The damn keyboard always reads it as "****s" everytime I try to type in "shots". ;)
Topic at hand, agreed. Some of the shots the Nexus takes has way better lighting than what my 920 takes. Well, its far from a fair comparison though. While the 920 does take better photos than the Nexus in quite a few cases, it should be noted just much of a newer device the Nexus is.

Comparison p0rn is needed. =P

The Nexus isn't as bad as people make it out to be and I think it had a nice software improvement after release. Plus the 920 is getting old, as far as technology goes.

Frankly, I thought the 920 was a bit over hyped, on the camera. Not that its bad, by any means...

I had a Nexus 5 and found the camera pretty good. Probably not as good as the 920 in low light though.

No even indoors pictures were great. Like really good. Like no comparison.

Which is pretty weird.

Now just wondering... Is the 930 better than a nexus 5?

I'm surprised the 920 isn't better. I have both a 920 and a Nexus 5; I should compare them. I usually take pictures with one or the other, but not both at the same time.

Must be something wrong with that 920 or the person taking the pics.

Is the 930 better? Light years..

1020 if you want the best though.

I don't know. I find it hard to believe the Nexus 5's camera is that much better than the Lumia 920's.

The 920 is starting to age and other phone manufacturers have followed its camera capabilities. The 920 was a breakthrough in mobile camera technology. It paved way for other phones to use OIS and use very nice low light technology. While the 920 definitely isn't the best cameraphone in the business right now, it sure was the one to beat when it was release.

Change and competition is a good thing and for other phone manufacturers to follow its footsteps, I'd say the 920 was a thread to other manufacturers and it made their phones a lot better in camera technology.

Btw, it still takes great photos, maybe not as better as the Nexus 5 (I'm not sure about this since my 920 I believe still takes better photos than my friend's Nexus 5 but you said it), iPhone 5s or the other android phones but it still gets the work done. The 920 of course is still one of the best low light camera phones out now overall.

Well.... i guess it depends on the 920... i know my way around a camera and recently, my 920 is giving me nightmares. I did not drop it or whatever, contrary to my gf.

Here are 3 pics - taken the same day with 1 camera and 2 lumia 920:

I took the 1st one with my regular camera:

The 2nd one was taken with my 920 - i decreased the iso a little:

The 3rd was taken by my gf's 920:

You can see a huge difference between my gf's 920 and mine... needless to say, my 920 looks ridiculous next to my lumix g2 camera... while it used to be good before.

Here are some pics i took with my 920 before it went bad:

As you can see, my 920 really became a terrible shooter compare to its debut. Once again i never dropped it and the lens is clean.

not in a million years,my 720 shoots better photos than my nexus 5 and in low light my 820 as well
even my z10 has a better cam than my nexus 5
maybe its purely situational in your case

ill post comparison pics with my nexus 5,lumia 720,820 and z10 if i get the time
have compared in the past against a galaxy s4 as well, the s4 was decent in normal light but the other phones beat it in other conditions

Although I have no proof, I must agree that picture quality in my 920 seems to have went down dramatically. I got owned by a friend's S4 in normal conditions (yes my lens were clear). I'm no expert, but I seem to get a lot of noise in my pictures which didn't happen when I bought the phone. This actually makes me think twice before upgrading to a 1020 or its successor later this year, MS/NOKIA downgrading camera performance as time goes by? Maybe they want to let their flagships shine. Maybe it's because of developer preview, but I think I had this before. Anyway, if I get the same pictures with Cyan, I will really be disappointed.

[EDIT]: I really think it's a software issue, that is what annoys me the most.
