My start menu button isn't working and neither does the keyboard link

After a recent update my computer prompted a reset to complete updates. Once it rebooted the start menu button wont work (i can right click it but not left) and the keyboard button to open it also doesnt work.

confirm that there aren't new updates - do a restart too
