Nokia Lumia 1020 not turning on / soft resetting

My L1020 suddenly stopped working. Currently it is as if it is turned off. When I plug it into the wall nothing happens. When I plugged it into my computer the home button lit up (no flashing) for about 1 minute before turning off. It doesn't seem to do that anymore. I have tried soft resetting it multiple times but nothing happens. I tried the Recovery Tool but it doesn't recognise my phone and tells me to soft reset it. I would really rather not return it as I ordered it online and am running the developer preview. Any suggestions?

Run the Nokia Software Recovery Tool and when you get the screen with: plug in your phone, there is also a message that says something like this: My phone does not start up or respond. Click that one and it should restore from there

Thanks for the reply.
I tried that before but then it asked me to hold the vol. down and power buttions until it vibrated. Whenever I do that it acts completely dead and doesn't respond.
