Nokia Lumia 530 emergency calls only. Try again in 866,045 minutes

Took my phone out of my pocket yesterday and found that it had locked itself with the above message. I have tried every method of restarting it that I can think of but keeps going back to this. I downloaded the Microsoft Recovery tool software but when I connected my phone was told that I could not do anything because it was locked. Off course it's locked - I have to wait 866,045 minutes for it to unlock!

Having mental health issues ALL my emergency contact numbers are on my phone. Does anyone know how to get it restarted or is it now completely unworkable?

Reason might be incorrect pin entered multiple times on the lock screen OR if you bought it from someone and its reported / locked by them. You might want to check with official MS support if this was bought from trustworthy seller?

Sometimes this is a glitch. It could be from something like your battery not making good contact...

Often times it is from too many invalid PIN attempts.

Regardless, the solution is the same. Hard Reset.

Power off the phone > hold Volume Down > press Power > keep holding Volume Down until you see the exclamation (!) screen, then immediately release the Volume Down

Now tap Volume Up / Volume Down / Power / Volume Down

You should see the spinning gears and your phone will reflash the last OS version held in recovery. You do loose data, but get your phone back. Sign into your Microsoft Account and restore your backup during the set up.
