Nokia Lumia 735 Headphone Jack won't work, how can I fix this?

Nokia Lumia 735 Headphone Jack Won't work

For some reason my Nokia Lumina 735 will not play sound out of the headphones. When the headphones are plugged in, sound only comes out of the main speaker. This happened in a matter of seconds while walking down the street.

The phone is only a few months old. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

it can be that phone dont support these headphones, i had that problem too, and i just bought a new(different ones) and it's working.

Are you using headphones designed for iPhones? Anything designed for iOS tends to work properly only with iOS devices.

Headphones designed for Android or BlackBerry tend to work properly for Windows Phones.

True, my apple headphones are much louder on my ios device than my windows phone.

The controls to answer calls or fast-forward / rewind songs typically don't work on other devices not from Apple with headphones designed for iOS.

Microsoft definitely made a change at least with the 636 as it can be used with designed for iPhone headphones with full microphone and controller support.

Hi, I have a 636 and it came with ear buds where the plug does not even fit in the phone jack so I have been a bit lost as to what kind of headphones to buy. I would like good quality with all the functions and going by the forums it seems to be a big ask for windows phones. Can you please tell me the scource of your info regarding 636 compatibility with i phone headphones?

Really? Honestly, I didn't bother with the stock earphones. I own several- Huawei AM180 noise canceling with controls and microphone. Westone UM1 no controls and no microphone, light on bass. Harman Kardon SOHO with controls and microphone, bass heavy. Urbanears Tanto with controls and microphone. Apple ear buds.

My favorite is the Huawei.

The mobile phone headphone problem is described well in an ebay guide.
Google < ebay Headset-standards-OMTP-or-CTIA> to find it, as this forum won't let me post the link directly.

If you want to keep your favourite headphones, you have two options (but I suggest you stay away from Apple headphones).
1. Buy an AHJ to OMTP adapter. Some headphones come with one packed in the box (like some Sennheiser models).
2. If you are handy with a soldering iron, cut off the headphone plug and install a new one wired to comply with AHJ standard.

Both of these solutions worked to correct a Nokia WH-205 and a WH-208. Nokia WH-108 and Sennheiser CX275S both work without modification or adapters.
