I've downgraded my UK 925 to 8.0 last night and then installed the Cyan update. In my opinion works slightly better than with DP, although it could be because of the 4gb pictures folder that I had before and now I have in my PC. (Keep in mind that I restored my phone from a DP backup). Action center is much smoother, animation is super fluid. Rest of the apps work as well as before, except for Amazing weather HD that crashes sometimes, although is just the message, the app keeps working fine. Whatsapp went back to giving that annoying message that "not all the features may work correctly because of my OS". works fine though.
About the battery life, mine is the same as before. Keep in mind that you have to block most of the app background processes. Once all the apps were installed after the backup restore, they went back to be allowed in the background, apps like 4bledHDR, Here Drive, IMDB, and such. I only allow background processes on whatsapp, facebook, twitter, Cortana, Onedrive and News. wp_ss_20140731_0001.png
Bottom line is, I'm pretty happy with the update and spending like 3 hours downgrading and updating again. (Mostly because my sister got me the Fitbit Flex for my birthday and now I can use it).

Cheers.

Same here. Cyan Update is perfect. No battery drain, it's perfect!

I just bought HK version of L925, managed to flash it to UK 8.0 and made a hard reset as it is stated in the tutorial. new update showed up and installed everything. everything is fine, i'm on 8.1. but in about phone it only says it is 8.1, no words about Nokia cyan or anything.
my question is- is this phone now on cyan or what?

You need to go to Settings> Extras+info to check that out.

Updated my Lumia 925 for ATT last night! Running in tip top shape. If you downgrade from Dev Preview, leave yourself 2 to 3 hours to complete it.

I had to stop laughing before typing this. But to answer your question, don't be shocked if the year is 2015 and you still haven't received the Cyan update. AT&T and Verizon would rather spit in your face and try to force you into buying a new phone, rather than give you an update. It is one of the reasons I dumped ATT for T-Mobile. That and no data caps or overage charges.

I think you meant T mobile, right? ATT has supported their windows phones much better than t mobile. I downloaded 8.1 Cyan last night on my ATT 925, how about you?

ONLY the people using bitlocker on their devices need to downgrade, NOT everyone.
This is not accurate. MSFT has no way to know who has bitblocker and has blocked the update for all on the Dev preview. As of now all users must downgrade to 8 to get the OTA if it is out for your device. Downgrading to 8 will wipe your device.

So I would be better off waiting until I hear that TMobile is pushing out Cyan, then downgrade to 8.0 to get the OTA upgrade, right?
I don't want to downgrade until I really have to. :)
Correct. MSFT may have lifted the block on 8.1 Dev Preview by then and you may not need to downgrade as it is a very time consuming process.

So far, the Cyan update is alright, not that impressive.
I've had a couple bugs, one where the both cameras in the Nokia Camera app would become fully whitewashed (like barely able to see anything). This could only be resolved by a restart. Also, there is still a little pop at the end of each song played, which isn't that annoying anymore, but it's still there.
There's also bugs within the Creative Studio app. When I try blurring the background, it renders correctly up until I do the final render and save it to the camera roll. I don't know if this is 925 specific or not.
Missing things include: USB Settings, Dolby Virtual Surround, Living Images etc.

Overall, battery life is poor, but that may improve over time because I downgraded to 8.0, then updated to Cyan, so my system is still getting used to everything.
Apps that I use:
6snap
WhatsApp
Facebook
6tag
Kik
Life360

^^ I only got maybe a total of two hours of screen on time using these today. Standby time is good overall.
I've found that GPS also really drains the battery, which really sucks because I need it a lot.

Also, battery percentage fluctuates. Frequently, if I restart my phone, it will drop 5% or more.

Not really impressed with the Cyan improvements (the only thing I've really been able to tell is smoother animations and that "one side of the headphones plays" bug is fixed)

Nevertheless, disappointed. Cyan doesn't bring much.
