Official "I have the Surface 2" thread

Unfortunately, no. You could try a generic rubber stylus, but that's about it. The Surface 2 unfortunately misses out on the benefits of a Wacom digitizer. :(

Wait a minute, excuse my ignorance, but does the Surface 2 not work with a stylus?!

It lacks a digitizer, so you don't get the benefits of palm-ignoring, extreme accuracy, and other benefits that come with, say, the Surface Pro (2).

Again, you could buy a generic rubber stylus, the same that a person using an iPad might buy. But these merely emulate a finger, so these type of styli lack the ability to ignore your palm, and aren't very accurate.

Very disappointing, especially since the Surface 2 is often pitched as a great tool for note taking. :/

I hope that they make it a full Windows 8 pro device instead of RT.

While I'd love for the same, I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Microsoft is still fully committed to RT, so full Windows is to remain reserved for the Surface Pros.

That's the same thing I was thinking. If the stylus is such an awesome tool to have with the Surface (Pro or not), why would Microsoft drop the digitizer to make it a few millimeters thinner? The way I see it, a difference in thinness that small only makes it an arguing point for someone to say who's comparing it to an ipad. That's a huge mistake from Microsoft in my opinion.

aww. . . Oh well I guess I'll have to wait until the SP3. I was hoping to get another surface product (not like a iPhone or iPad hive minded person, but just because I feel like the processor and ram of my surface pro could use updating), so I was hoping to get this with W8.1 Pro on an impulse, but I just realized the screen would be way too small for Photoshop or AutoDesk inventor.

Surface 2 was never pitched for note taking? Surface pro was with it's digitizer.

By the way, I don't know whether there's already a thread, say, in the rumored devices forum (mods please move if there is), but does anyone think the surface mini will have a keyboard? If it'll be dell venue 8 pro-ish sized, then that might be pushing the limit way too far for a keyboard, wouldn't it?

I'm guessing add on via BT.

That's what I was thinking too, but given the current Bluetooth adapter is so big, they'll have to think of something crazy to slim it down to make a (likely non-attachable) keyboard portable. But it's the surface team and they're awesomely genius so they'll make something good for sure.

Perhaps build BT into the keyboards? That'd be wonderful.

the RT lack a few features like stylus but i'm still love my RT so much. if surface mini have a stylus, i'll wait. or maybe just buy the stylus..if microsoft sell it separately. anyone can confirm ?can i use it on my S2?

Microsoft does indeed sell replacement Surface Pro pens, but it wouldn't work on the RT/2, because they lack the necessary digitizer to make it work.

Thanks for having me as a member. I just got a 32 gb surface 2 from best buy. :crying: Just kidding!!! Actually I thought Id trade in my old compaq pasario laptop with xp for 100 dollar credit towards a new apple, windows or chrome computer. I wanted an ipad air and they said ok. Looked the tablets over, still wanted the air because of the screen. Went to check out and it wouldnt go. Manager came over and it was a 2 hour ordeal. Long story short the deal was for computers, not tablets. After 2 hours he said he give me 125 credit on a microsoft tablet. So, settled on this model due to its screen. 343 out the door.

I know it only runs apps, but all I use my old pc was for the internet, email and to update my tomtom every 90 days.

I got a 64 gb micro sdcard, 64 gb usb micro memory stick, case, screen protector and refurbished keyboard off ebay.

Wish I could give some feed back on actual usage, but its still downloading and updating after 16 hours.

I really really want a stylus with a Surface 3!!!! My only fear is that with Win 9 looming up for a Spring 2015 release, would a Surface 3 make more sense in 2015 or in Oct/ Nov 2014?
