Official Windows Phone Central app v3.0 is now available!

I'm using a Lumia 800 in Canada on Telus with WP7.5 (7.10.8773.98) and my last news update on the app was at 12:53 today (First Look at Unification...) and I checked it a few times today. I just get "Network Error: Could not connect to WPCentral.com. The remote server returned an error: NotFound". It just started happening the last couple days - sometimes news will load and it will be up to date, but I have received this error a several times.

As I am writing this post, it just updated and the news is up to date (Update released for official Twitter app...).

It worked great when I used it with adds... after I payed it worked ok for a couple of days....

I love the app and would like to have it working.. I reinstalled it a couple of times...but nothing changed...

I'm thinking about purchasing the app for WP8 but I want to know what notifications and live tiles does the app offer.

1. Will I get notifications if someone quotes, thanks or likes my post on the forum?
2. Will I get notifications for personal messages?
3. Will I get notifications if someone responds to a comment I make on an article?
4. If yes to all of the above, will those notifications show up on the tile, or is that tile just for latest headlines?
5. What kind of notifications does the app offer; push or 30 minute delay?

at present we only offer notifications about news stories (although you can still get comment and forum notifications via email). Personal messages do show up on a tile within the forum section of the app, but you will have to go to the forums section to see that tile.
The app runs with a background task style of notifications which is every 15-45 minutes.

Yeah i think there's a wider issue with certain articles breaking the tile, I'm working on that tonight

Thanks Jay for the quick work. Not to b a pain or anything but the tile still doesn't work. I'm running a Nokia 800 with WP 7.8. App updated n WP updated too. Same prob persists. Repinning n reinstalling doesn't work too

Hi sarjit, so I forced the 7.8 update on my Lumia 800 and am now able to reproduce the problem. The only pain is that it works perfectly every time when the debugger is attached, only failing when running in normal mode (which is why I didn't see it with the emulator). I am working on the problem and plan to release a new wp7 version as soon as I have a fix

Hi. Just wanted to report that about once a week I get the black live tile problem (whole tile turns black and the letters go vertical on the tile). L920. Can fix it usually by changing tile sizes a few times. Great app overall though that I use several times a day.

for me, that tends to only happen these days if I close the app while its refreshing from opening the app.

I keep having an issue where after a bit (seems like a couple days) the live tile stops refreshing entirely.
When I then open the app it shows new stories, but behaves as if I'm not logged in, and like the app is being used for the first time.

All settings are default and such.

I've tried uninstall/reinstall but it doesn't fix it. AT&T US Lumia 900 running 8862 here.

Any ideas?

Any news on a fix for this problem? Or is it going to be permanent? Its sad that my most prominent tile is broken for so long

Thank you Jay. Any idea what is causing the app to do the complete resets on my phone?

I've tried to do a trace using the in app tool, but the reset always wipes that data too.

The only possible suspect I can think of is related to times I use open/use the app when I'm on a bus and hit the downtown Seattle transit tunnels. All signal is lost in there...not sure why that would cause all settings to reset and lose login details though.

I have a somewhat serious error with this app on a Lumia 620 running WP8.

On a wireless network the app runs perfect with no problem at all. If you switch to your 3G connection and try to log in, the app triggers Three UK's anti-tethering system and causes the entire data connection to be blocked until the phone is restarted. I contacted Three and they don't seem to care.

I have been able to reproduce this bug.
