Offline Facebook Messaging Now Available

You can now send offline messages to friends via Facebook Chat. What's interesting is that this feature must've been available all this time, but disabled server side since it doesn't require an update to enable it. Either way, a very welcome addition as offline messaging was quite an important feature regarding built-in Facebook integration.

This negates the iPhones bigger selling point which is iMessage. Can now communicate with people regardless of what device they're on whether offline or online.

I think offline fb messaging is pretty neat, but I don't see how it replaces iMessage. Not everyone has a Facebook account and not everyone you text is necessarily a fb friend. They have overlapping functionality, but neither can replace the other.

More people have Facebook than iPhones so it reaches more people than iMessage.
