Opening applications in full screen

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to automatically open all applications in full screen rather than with the taskbar at the bottom then having to manually using the expand button in the top right to make each application cover the screen completely?

Use the tablet mode, it will give you everything you miss about 8.1 UI

I'm in tablet mode but things don't seem to open that way.
